Enter the microchip number in the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool.
The AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool will assist you by providing the manufacturer to call for owner information if available. Our microchip format sheet is also very helpful.
No luck? If you have not been able to contact the owner because the phone is out of service. the microchip is not registered, or you have not heard back from an owner, then proceed to Step 2.

The following service is provided free by volunteers, and is only meant to be utilized when the information registered with the pets microchip or tag cannot be used to locate the owner.
We call this is a dead end microchip.
Any information provided is kept in the strictest confidence. None of the information supplied will be posted publicly and that includes any information obtained through tracking the microchip.
Our volunteers are able to track these microchips because they have more time than most shelter staff and more resources than the public.

STEP 3
List for free on the National Lost/Found Pet Registry: PetFBI.org to get a free flyer and be entered in the national database. Our members in the area will be alerted. Shelters are welcome to partner with PetFBI.
