Kia took off during the storm
Thank you to finder Lauren for keeping Kia safe after she took off during the storms yesterday! Lauren was told by the chip company that there was no information for this microchip. Her microchip, however, had outdated information - it went back to her previous owner who didn't have her long and returned her to the breeder several years ago! The owner on the microhcip was able to provide the name of the breeder! Microchip Hunter Deb found and reached out to the breeder, but he only spoke Polish, so she had a friend help with translation! He recognized Kia and was able to find the paperwork of who she was adopted to, and Deb was able to put the owner and finder in touch so she could go home! Thank you to everyone that mentioned Microchip Hunters to Lauren! The microchip will be updated! Lost Dogs Illinois #MicrochipHunters www.microchiphelp.com

Susan from Waukegan Animal Control reached out to Microchip Hunters after North Chicago Animal Control contacted her about a found dog with a dead-end microchip.
I reached out to Damien at North Chicago for a photo and details about where this sweet girl was found — he shared both and told me she’s an absolute sweetheart who already had a lot of interest! I was able to track down the name of the facility here that originally microchipped her. After a couple of days of follow-up, I received a text from the facility with the owner’s information! We learned that this sweet girl — named Pat — was microchipped at their San Diego location! Unfortunately, the phone number they provided was no longer current, and there was no address or email. But I kept digging and was able to find the address of a family member — just half a mile from where Pat had been found (she had wandered right into a school!). While I continued trying to connect with the family by phone, I shared the address with Damien, and he was able to personally reunite Pat with her family! I was so happy — we knew someone was missing her. The microchip will be updated and an ID tag sent for her collar! Thank you to Damien and both animal control teams for trusting Microchip Hunters! A Good Samaritan found Precious in the #BelmontCragin area of Chicago. She was wearing a Banfield tag with the microchip number and rabies tag. The Good Samaritan contacted a friend, Rubio, who tried Banfield and also called for information on the Rabies tag. Those became dead ends, as the number on file for this owner was disconnected and he was told that they couldn't get through. Rubio messaged the chip number to Microchip Hunters, who through some researching on the internet, discovered the owner on the microchip had passed away a couple of years ago. Microchip Hunters did some further research, and found some family members at an address just under a 1/2 mile down the street from the found location. Rubio was able to bring Precious home, and they were very grateful. She is a senior girl and is loved. The microchip has been updated, and an ID tag with her address and phone number ordered to add to her tags on her collar! Welcome home Precious, and thanks to the Good Samaritan and Rubio for keeping her safe, and getting her home! She didn't need a new home! The found Shih Tzu from #Chicago, IL, is home safe and sound! His name is Bruno! Bruno is microchipped. When the police scanned and called this owner, they said they rehomed Bruno. He stayed with a Good Samaritan for a few days, but then was taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control who sent the microchip number to Microchip Hunters, thank you! Microchip Hunters reached out to the family to see if they knew who Bruno was rehomed to and they contacted the family! They were missing him and they went together to pick him up! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com We wanted to thank Chicago Animal Care and Control for sending information to #MicrochipHunters for a deceased dog they took in to the facility with a disconnected phone number attached to the microchip.
Microchip Hunters was able to reach the family and was told that their little girl went missing a year ago. Sad as this news was, the family had closure, and didn't have to wonder where she was any longer. Sometimes the 'not knowing' where they are hurts just as much as the sad news.
