 "We have called this number, but it is disconnected"
Emersyn took in this little 10 year old cutie found in Indiana and contacted the chip company to find the owner information. The dog's name is Chiquita, and her phone number was disconnected. Emersyn learned of Microchip Hunters through a Facebook post, and submitted the form for help! Microchip Hunter Kelly found a current number for the family, and although there was a language barrier, the daughter was able to help! They have been reunited, and Microchip Hunters will be offering help to update the chip information!

 "Roxy heard her owner come into the shelter and went nuts."
Thank you to Genny K. for messaging Microchip Hunters yesterday morning. A 6-year-old Rottweiler came into Paws Tinley Park with a police officer. She was microchipped. Microchip Hunters called the number on file, but there was no voicemail set up, so a text with her photo was sent. We wanted to get her home quickly. When I didn’t get a reply right away, I tried the emergency contact, but had to send a text there too. I did some additional research and found another possible number connected to an address just a half mile from where Roxy was found. Originally, the address on file showed Mokena. I received a call back, and Roxy’s family wanted to pick her up immediately! She had been missing for 7 or 8 hours. “She’s part of our family.” Genny later messaged me and said: “Roxy heard her owner come into the shelter and went nuts. The man came running in huffing and puffing asking for Roxy. Best reunion!!! I wish we would have video of it!” Roxy’s owner told us: “She’s my little girl and I’m happy to have her back. Thank you again for reaching out and getting her back home so quickly.” I also put in a request to update the microchip information with the family’s correct address and phone number. Thank you Kelly for taking this case for Microchip Hunters when Cincinnati Animal Care (CAC) was unable to find the family due to an outdated phone number! Kelly worked on finding a current number, and was able to connect with the family! "His response when I told him his dog was at Cincinnati Animal Care was, THANK GOD!" Welcome home, Cricket, you are loved!  Two nights ago, Microchip Hunters received a message from Jen, who met the finder of this dog to scan for a chip and hold her overnight: “Hello, I know it’s late, but any chance you can run a chip for me? I just picked up a dog that’s pretty matted, but she’s microchipped.” Her name is Star, and it turns out she is 19 years old!!! Star was severely matted, frail, and in rough shape. But despite everything she had been through, she still had her microchip. It was late, so a voicemail and text were left for the family, and I started receiving calls back at 5 a.m. Star had been missing since November. After months without answers, her family feared the worst and believed they would never see her again. Her owner sobbed on the phone, overwhelmed that after all this time, Star was alive. She has been with the family for 15 years. Jen met the owner at the humane society, where Star was checked by a veterinarian before heading off for a much-needed grooming appointment. She is doing well for her age, and we are all just so happy she is back with her family where she belongs. It would have been easy to assume this dog was neglected or abandoned. You just never know. what the circumstances are! Registered microchips make all the difference. Thank you to the finder and to Jen for making sure Star had the best possible chance to get home.
