London's family had a registered microchip in Florida, but she was found in Chicago!

When Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) hit a dead end trying to reach the owner, they submitted the microchip to Microchip Hunters for assistance.

Finding current contact information for London's family wasn't easy, but MH volunteer Sarah got to work tracking down leads. After considerable research, she finally located a working phone number and was able to speak with London's owner.

Unfortunately, the news was unexpected. The owner had recently been hospitalized after calling 911 and was unsure when he would be discharged.

Microchip Hunters immediately notified CACC of the situation and also shared that the owner would be unable to drive once he returned home.

Soon after, we received this wonderful update from CACC: 
"I spoke with the owner, and he provided proof of ownership. We are working with him on transport back home once we know for sure his discharge. Thank you for working to reunite them."

London is safely back home where she belongs, because of everyone working together!

London didn't need a new home, she just needed to go home.

"Number is no longer in service."

That's not something you want to hear when trying to reach the owner of a senior microchipped dog!
That was the message Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) received when attempting to contact Lily's family.

Microchip Hunters (MH) went to work trying to locate Lily's family, who appeared to be in their 90s. Thankfully, MH volunteer Kelly was able to locate a granddaughter's current phone number. Her mother brought Lily's grandmother to CACC to reclaim their beloved little girl, and Lily is now safely back home where she belongs!
This reunion is a great reminder to keep your microchip information up to date. If you have a trusted emergency contact, consider adding them to your pet's microchip registration as well.

Microchip Hunters will also help ensure Lily's microchip information is updated, just in case she ever needs help finding her way home again.

"We have tried contacting the number on the chip, seems to be disconnected. Contacted the implant facility, and they provided an alternate contact number that is also disconnected. We tried to email the address on the chip, and it was returned as undeliverable."

Thank goodness for the volunteers with Microchip Hunters that work to find these families!

Lobo is 18 years old, and Microchip Hunter Kelly found a phone number for a nephew who was able to provide a new phone number for the family! They were there in no time, and volunteer Carmen also assisted by calling to confirm in Spanish that they knew where to go!

The chip information was updated by Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter when the family came to reclaim! And that is how it should work!
