Thank you Cincinnati Animal Care (CAC) for letting Microchip Hunters assist in getting this beauty home to his family!
Gooch was found as a stray, and has a microchip, but the phone number on the registration doesn't belong to the owner any longer. There was no email on the microchip registration. CAC submitted to Microchip Hunters for help, and Microchip Hunter Valerie was able to find a current number for Gooch's family by finding a number for the daughter! The father called right away, and went to pick Gooch up! CAC emailed Microchip Hunters: "Successfully returned to owner thanks to YOU!!!!" We couldn't be happier! Welcome home Gooch, you are loved!!! Thank you to Cedar Valley Humane Society, in Iowa for requesting help for this beautiful dog found as a stray! "I've used all of my "usual" resources in researching this microchip (AAHA, your provided microchip format sheet, etc) and have only been able to locate information that the microchip was sold via Datamars. I've sent an email to their team requesting assistance but also wanted to reach out with your team as well. (This is about my 4th time using your organization (Microchip Hunters) and have been successful each time and it is so appreciated each time!)" We appreciate it too!!!
I (Microchip Hunters) was able to determine that this microchip came from Ireland! After sending some emails, the rescue in Ireland, The Haven, kindly provided the owner information. They also attempted to reach the owner but were unsuccessful. With a bit more digging, I learned that the owner had sadly passed away just five months ago. I began researching again to find any relatives and to see who may have taken this dog in. The phone numbers I found for the wife were dead ends, so I reached out through email and Facebook. The dog had been found just a few miles from home. The Haven also contacted the friend who originally helped arrange the adoption. He was able to get in touch with the wife, though he wasn’t sure where the dog currently was. Thankfully, the wife eventually saw my emails and called me for information. She made arrangements to pick Rocco up temporarily while a foster is being set up to take him in. She isn’t able to care for him alone, but she wants to make sure he’s safe and properly situated. He has been getting out repeatedly since his owner passed. Rocco has been wandering frequently since his owner’s death, and we are so grateful he is safe! Thank you to everyone who helped!
