Missing over 6 weeks, mystery solved!
Thank you, The City of Mobile Animal Services, for caring enough to send this dead-end microchip to Microchip Hunters! Draco's had a microchip that begins with 900 and was never registered. Many chip companies show up as possible manufacturers, but none turned out to be correct. Microchip Hunters did some digging, and contacted another microchip company not listed, for some help! This dog was purchased at a flea market in Alabama. I was able to get information for the breeder with the help of someone that purchased their dog there, and the breeder searched for owner information! When I contacted Draco's family, he was so happy. He had given up finding him after 6 weeks and even sold his crate. When I looked up the hours for animal services, it showed 12-4 Monday through Friday, so the family told me they would be able to get there Wednesday when they were off work. I provided the phone number and arrangements were made - Draco went home today, Sunday!!! I woke up to a happy reunion! Thank you again to all involved in getting him home, and a special thanks to the The City of Mobile Animal Services for working to get Draco home quickly; he is loved! Draco's microchip is now registered! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com

From Microchip Hunter Dianne: "I was able to contact Tina and her daughter! They were both very excited to hear something about the pup. They live in Gary, Indiana. The father and son on the microchip had both passed away, and someone had told these ladies that the pup had run away. They were thrilled to find out that the dog is safe. Tina was very worried since she didn't know where the pup was. The dog is a link to their family who have passed on, and it they really want him back!"
Thank you to Chicago Animal Care and Control for sending this to Microchip Hunters for help! We love this story, and were very happy to be able to reunite this family! Found 12/24/2023 Reunited 1/4/2024 Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com There is a twist! 'Glitter' is 'Envy'
Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) sent this microchip to Microchip Hunters when they didn't hear back from the owner on file for this dog. Her name was listed as Glitter. Microchip Hunters reached out and was able to connect with the most recent owner on file (There were 2 registrations with 2 chip companies and 2 owners). Glitter's owner, however, said that she took off after a car just a few months after he adopted her and couldn't find her. He now lives in a high-rise that doesn't allow dogs. We asked that he surrender the dog to animal control, and after talking further, learned she was adopted from another shelter. We let this shelter know in case they wanted to pick her up, and also let CACC know where she came from. The shelter picked her up the next day. She had already been at CACC for 6 days. During this transition time, Microchip Hunters thought it would be a good idea to reach out to the original owner as we usually do, just in case, and we are glad we did! Her number was not current, but a current number was found, and her dog Envy had been missing for several months!!! Envy had been transferred in previously from yet another shelter. We are not sure why Envy wasn't originally reunited before she was transferred and then adopted out, but we are glad she was found again, and now back with her original family where she was missed! Thank you Chicago Animal Care and Control for working with Microchip Hunters - Envy didn't need a new home, she just needed to go home! Lost Dogs Illinois www.microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters Zero was found by a Good Samaritan in Summerfield, Florida. The microchip was registered, but to a previous owner that rehomed him just a couple of years ago through Craigslist. He only had a name of the person he rehomed to, as the email was through craigslist and no longer valid. Microchip Hunters did some checking and found a match to the name just .3 miles from the found location! He was found with the harness and a broken chain attached. Microchip Hunter Amy D. made some calls and reached the owner! She was very worried! Zero, now named Hunter, had been missing for 4 days. Arrangements were made to pick Hunter up, just in time, the finder already has 3 dogs and family coming to visit for the Holidays with their dogs too! Welcome home Hunter, you are loved! Thank you Sandra for giving him a home until his family was found! Microchip Hunters also registered the microchip to the new owner! Microchip Hunters received a private message from a finder of a cat in Indiana, along with a form submission to microchiphelp.com. "The vet told us it was unregistered and there was no other information attached." It turns out the microchip submitted had one too many extra letters and numbers. Microchip Hunters started trying a few combinations while waiting for the cat to be rescanned tomorrow by the finder. After seeing registrations for a Husky and a Rottweiler, the third try was a charm. It was a black and beige cat in the same city! I called the owner, and he said his cat went missing two weeks ago, and he was waiting for this call. He looked everywhere for him. He said one minute he was sniffing the 'flowers' and the next he was gone! He was devastated and said it is just "him and me. I'm pretty excited. He is 8 years old" He asked that I give the finder his number. Jeffrey, the finder, messaged me "We're taking him over now! Thanks so much for your help. You do incredible work." So happy they decided to give Microchip Hunters a try, and that they cared enough about this cat to make sure the microchip was truly a dead end. What a wonderful thing you did for this cat and his family! Thank you Adam and Jeffrey! Would this cat have gotten home if he wasn't microchipped??? Glad we didn't need to find out! Welcome home Tiger, you are loved! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Senior boy Louie was missing since 11/6!
Microchip Hunters and Lost Dogs Illinois helped Louie get home after he was brought to Chicago Animal Control, 11/29! The family was so happy to get this call, and Microchip Hunters will be registering the microchip with the family! The family needed help with Louie's reclaim fees, and of course Lost Dogs Illinois assisted, with your help. He is 12 years old and needed to be home where he is loved! Please donate if you can, so we can continue helping dogs like Louie get back home quickly! Missing 11/6/2023 Reunited 11/30/2023 Welcome home Louie! Blaze's family lost him on a trip in Portland, Texas!
The microchip was registered but the phone number was not current. Microchip Hunter Amy W. was able to reach the sister by finding a current number for her "Hello, yes that's my brother. I'm glad you found him! You can contact him at this number XXXXXXX" His family was so happy to get this call! They traveled back from Austin, Texas to pick him up from Portland Texas Animal Care Services Thank you for sending to Microchiphelp.com so that Blaze could go home! Lost Dogs Illinois www.microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters Bubba and Dino were both found on Saturday, and taken to the Chicago Police Department, then to Chicago Animal Care and Control on Saturday, 11/25. They were microchipped to the same owner, but the phone number wasn't current. Chicago Animal Care and Control sent this to Microchip Hunters, and volunteer Deb wasn't having any luck reaching the family through numbers or emails, but the Facebook profile was a company and that phone number produced results! Bubba and Dino's owner wanted to come get them right away, but it was already past closing time at CACC, so he had to wait until today! So happy for these two, we heard that Bubba was "just standing outside crying, looking for his owner." Welcome home, you are loved! What valuable work you do!"11/26/2023 "Thank you for finding his owners and making this all possible. What valuable work you do!"
Someone had reported a cat coming to a feeding station. They were able to scan for a microchip but the phone number wasn't current, so a rescue was reached and sent the information to Microchip Hunters. Microchip Hunter Deb took the case and was able to reach the family through Facebook Messenger. The family let her know this cat had shown up at their farm and visited on and off for a year. He finally let them pick him up and they took him for neutering and vaccines and released him back in his 'original' environment. He had been gone for 2 weeks or so. They said they 'would be happy to get him and bring him back.' Laurie from the rescue sent an updated email this morning, as they were hoping to get him into a home where he could be kept inside: "Very good news to report. The black kitty is named Lenny. The horse farm owner picked him up and one of her riding students family fell in love with him and are taking him into their home! Thank you for finding his owners and making this all possible. What valuable work you do!" We were happy to hear this wonderful update, thank you Laurie for helping Lenny! Welcome home Lenny!!! Enjoy the indoor life!!! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com A Texas family found Deere as a stray and tried to find her family for a week! They posted to various groups and contacted the microchip company, but nobody contacted them. "In the mean time, she’s a great pup and we’re giving her tons of love. My young kids adore her."
They submitted to Microchip Hunters, who tried the number on file. It was not working, but a number for the mom of this owner was found after some searching, and she said she would reach her son! I got a text shortly after, "Hello, I heard you possibly found our dog?" I sent a photo, and they replied, "Yes, that's her!" It wasn't the person on the microchip! It turns out their roommate (the person on the microchip) took Deere to get chipped and vaccinated for them, and they didn't know how to check the chip or transfer the registration to them! Arrangements were made, and Deere went home. She was most happy to see her dog sibling! We heard that there would be a lot of talk at the home of the finder over Thanksgiving about getting a dog! We are so grateful for people who care for these missing dogs - thank you so much to Thomas and his family for all the love! Welcome home, Deere!
