Wilson was found as a stray, and had contact information for the owner and an emergency contact.
Unfortunately, both numbers were disconnected, so Cincinnati Animal Care sent the microchip number to Microchip Hunters for help!

Microchip Hunter Jessica was able to find a good number for the alternate contact, and Wilson went home!

Welcome home, Wilson, you are loved! His microchip is also updated!

“I would lose my job before leaving him there”

Samuel’s cat was found near the library right by his home. He said he is around 15 years old. The Good Samaritan that found him took him to Cincinnati Animal Care (CAC) to check for a chip, and they held onto him while waiting for the owner to be found. They would adopt him if nobody came forward.

CAC sent a text on 8/1, but heard nothjng back, so sent to Microchip Hunters on 8/5. The hold was up 8/6 so a quick search for the family was needed.

I was able to discover a new address and phone number for Louis’ family! He lived right by where he was found. Samuel answered the phone and was beyond the moon happy to hear that Louis was ok! “We have been so depressed, we thought he had passed.”

I let Samuel know where Louis was, and told him the hold was up the next day. I told him he should call right away even though it was after hours, and leave a message, and if possible get there the next day to pick him up. He said “I would lose my job before leaving him there.”

People and their animals have a special bond. Stray holds are short. Please make sure your animals are microchipped, and the information for you is correct and current. It can make all the difference when your pet goes missing.

Thank you to CAC for sending this over, the family would have never known where their buddy was. Special thanks for the Good Samaritan who helped get him home!

This dog was found in #Hinckley Ohio with a microchip that wasn't showing any information. It was a chip from Japan, and the rescue in Ohio that took the dog in sent it to Microchip Hunters for help!

Microchip Hunter Deb was able to get information to the database containing the microchip information from a Vet in Japan. She was able to locate a phone number for the owner here in the US and learned the dog was rehomed to the nephew once brought here! They were able to contact the rescue to get the dog home!

Home to family in Ohio after two weeks!

Mario disappeared from his home two weeks ago and was picked up by a good Samaritan last week. His finder contacted Microchip Hunters with the chip information in the hopes that we could find his family! The good Samaritan learned about Microchip Hunters through PetFBI!

It was found that Mario's dad passed away in 2019 and his chip was never updated by his new owner. Microchip Hunters volunteer Catherine took this case and was able to contact a family member who told her that Mario had gone to live with the sister of the chipped owner. Catherine found his new owner's phone number and reached out to her and learned that she had been missing Mario and was over the moon that he had been found! Mario's owner was able to get in contact with his finder and immediately drove over and picked him up, and he is now safely at home once again.

This is a great reminder to make sure that you update your pet's microchip as soon as you bring them home, especially if you got them from a friend or family member who is deceased! Luckily in this case we were able to reach a family member of Mario's original owner but imagine if we hadn't! He may have never gone back to the people who love him.

Welcome home Mario!
