Microchip Hunters received a text from Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation late evening yesterday. "Hello, if you're awake, they have this girl at the 16th District." I was awake and went to my computer to take a look at the microchip number, called the microchip company, and left a voicemail.
I spoke to the microchip company (Petkey) this morning, and they didn't have the chip number in their system but said their chip numbers a little different. After we hung up, I took another look at the chip number and was going to request a rescan. I changed a number to match the format and checked if it was registered, and sure enough it was, in 2013. I called the microchip company back in case it could be the correct number for this little girl and was told it was for a Papillon in Des Plaines, IL. I knew it had to be correct, so got the owner information. The phone number they provided went through and I left a voicemail and text but decided to check a little further after no response. I found a phone number that was one digit different, and left another voicemail and text, but also saw a relative that lives in Chicago close to the area "Scarlet" was found and tried them as well. I received a few calls back. Scarlet stays with the sister of the registered owner! She called me and went right away to pick her up. The microchip information was provided to the family so that it could be updated properly too! Welcome home Scarlet and thank you to the 16th district and Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation for caring for her and sending over the microchip information. We are always so happy when dogs get home to their families, and appreciate your trust in us. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com

Joker was found as a stray and taken to Chicago Animal Control with a rabies tag. Cook County Animal and Rabies Control was able to provide information on who owned the dog per the tag.
There were no replies for the phone number, so CACC sent the information to Microchip Hunters. Microchip Hunter Amy found a working number for the son, and he provided the correct number for the family, and Joker went home the next day! Welcome home little guy. He is now microchipped and a new ID tag was ordered for him! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com |
