ROMEO was found in Chicago, and with the help of many, is on his way back home to Texas, thanks to his microchip!
Though Romeo's microchip was not registered, Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation messaged Microchip Hunters for help finding this French Bulldog's family! Microchip Hunters was able to find the breeder information, who provided the owner's name and contact information from 2021. The phone number was not current, but with some research, a family member was found! Romeo's owner, Armando, called me within minutes and explained what happened! Romeo is Armando's traveling companion as he is a Truck Driver! "He is our family dog" Thank you Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation for messaging Microchip Hunters for help: "This was a team effort and lots of Prayers from Romeo's family. They thought he was lost forever. But now he is heading back to Texas to be welcomed home. His owner was able to change his route and work his way back to Chicago for a happy reunion!!" "Once again Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters works their magic. His name is Romeo and he is from Texas. He travels the country with his owner who is an over the road truck driver. They were staying in a motel in Schiller Park. While his owner was out picking up his next trailer, a housekeeper opened their door and Romeo escaped. He searched for Romeo for as long as he could but had to get back on the road. His owner was extremely emotional and said they have been praying for days hoping he would be found. The owner is in New Mexico right now and working out his route to travel back to Chicago to be reunited. Thank you to Gayle for stepping up to short term Foster. Thank you to Riser Animal Hospital for squeezing Romeo in for a checkup and vaccinations (confirmed with his owner he was overdue). Romeo also had a tick that needed to be removed. He is now with our friends at The Dog House of L C & L; safe and sound until his owner can get back to Chicago. Please share: Male found in the parking lot at the Kennedy and Cumberland Blueline parking lot; no tags, chip not registered wearing a collar and leash attached." 15 year old Simone didn't need a new home, she just needed some help finding her home!
Thank you to the finder who took Simone in for a few days while waiting to hear back from the owner on the microchip. She was ready to give the cat a new home, but thanks to Sue who then took her in to make sure all efforts were exhausted to find her family, she was able to get back home. Sue sent the microchip number to Microchip Hunters who reached the owner registered on the microchip. The owner explained that the cat actually belonged to her ex, whose family lived in Lindenhurst. The phone numbers she provided for her ex were no longer correct, and she hadn't been in touch with him for years. After some research, it looked like the ex now lives out of state. Microchip Hunters was able to find a match to an address for the parents of this ex, and Sue was able to bring Simone home! She lived close to where she was found, but is an indoor only cat so was a relief that she is back home! She had been away for three days. Thank you to all involved, and let's make sure our microchips are registered correctly! Microchip Hunters is helping the family update Simone's chip too! #MicrochipHunters www.microchiphelp.com Lost Dogs Illinois Binks went missing from his family five years ago, but thanks to a kind-hearted Good Samaritan and a microchip that still had a trail to follow, he's finally back where he belongs.
Binks was found on the North Side of Chicago by a wonderful woman named Shainy, who brought him to a vet to be scanned for a microchip. The chip company was contacted and made attempts to reach the registered owner, but no luck. That’s when Shainy reached out to Microchip Hunters for help—while continuing to care for Binks with 'food, water, gentle pets, scritches, and lots of sunbeam naps.' Microchip Hunter Weslee took on the case and, after hitting some dead ends with the primary contact, was able to locate a working number for the emergency contact listed on the chip—Binks’ owner's ex-husband. He was shocked to learn Binks had been found and didn’t hesitate to drive a couple of hours from his home in Indianapolis through a dust storm to reunite with him last night! Binks is reportedly very thin after all this time, but he’s now safe, loved, and finally back HOME after five long years. We are so grateful for Shainy’s compassion and persistence, and for Weslee’s detective work to track down the family! Welcome home, Binks. Microchip Hunters was happy to receive a microchip help request for a Husky found in Beach Park, IL. He was found with his collar and leash attached! This chip appeared to be a Save This Life Microchip and was a dead-end showing no information on the owner or implant facility. Microchip Hunters was able to find where the Microchip was implanted and contacted the animal hospital who was able to provide owner information! Though the owner only spoke Spanish, texting using translate methods was a success! The family was looking for Solovino, and the son was actually out looking for him before school! He was found in the vicinity of his home. The family went to pick him up right away, and Microchip Hunters helped get the chip registered, along with ordering an ID tag for his collar. We know how Huskies are! Welcome home Solovino, you are loved! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Levi's family was found!
This little cutie was picked up by a Good Samaritan and taken to the North Chicago Fire Department before going to North Chicago Animal Control. He had a microchip that had 2 names and one phone number attached but the number was no good. Microchip Hunters was tagged by a fan, thank you, who reached out to North Chicago Animal Control who provided the chip information. Microchip Hunters did some searching online and found that both names on file went back to owners that had passed away. A search for relatives began, and a few family members were called and texted. I received a call back from a twin of the family member looking for Levi! He had been missing since Thursday 4/10! She contacted her sister and let her know where Levi was, and he was reunited this morning! Thank goodness!!! Welcome home, Levi!!! Thanks to everyone involved! Honey's family had a new phone number, but didn't update it on their registration from 2018, so Chicago Animal Care and Control sent her chip number to Microchip Hunters for help connecting with the family! Microchip Hunter Pauline was able to reach the family at their new number, and they were missing her. She is now home, and we will be ensuring the microchip gets updated! Welcome home Honey!!! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Kia took off during the storm
Thank you to finder Lauren for keeping Kia safe after she took off during the storms yesterday! Lauren was told by the chip company that there was no information for this microchip. Her microchip, however, had outdated information - it went back to her previous owner who didn't have her long and returned her to the breeder several years ago! The owner on the microhcip was able to provide the name of the breeder! Microchip Hunter Deb found and reached out to the breeder, but he only spoke Polish, so she had a friend help with translation! He recognized Kia and was able to find the paperwork of who she was adopted to, and Deb was able to put the owner and finder in touch so she could go home! Thank you to everyone that mentioned Microchip Hunters to Lauren! The microchip will be updated! Lost Dogs Illinois #MicrochipHunters www.microchiphelp.com Susan from Waukegan Animal Control reached out to Microchip Hunters after North Chicago Animal Control contacted her about a found dog with a dead-end microchip.
I reached out to Damien at North Chicago for a photo and details about where this sweet girl was found — he shared both and told me she’s an absolute sweetheart who already had a lot of interest! I was able to track down the name of the facility here that originally microchipped her. After a couple of days of follow-up, I received a text from the facility with the owner’s information! We learned that this sweet girl — named Pat — was microchipped at their San Diego location! Unfortunately, the phone number they provided was no longer current, and there was no address or email. But I kept digging and was able to find the address of a family member — just half a mile from where Pat had been found (she had wandered right into a school!). While I continued trying to connect with the family by phone, I shared the address with Damien, and he was able to personally reunite Pat with her family! I was so happy — we knew someone was missing her. The microchip will be updated and an ID tag sent for her collar! Thank you to Damien and both animal control teams for trusting Microchip Hunters! Lost Dogs Illinois #MicrochipHunters www.microchiphelp.com Precious angel
A Good Samaritan found Precious in the #BelmontCragin area of Chicago. She was wearing a Banfield tag with the microchip number and rabies tag. The Good Samaritan contacted a friend, Rubio, who tried Banfield and also called for information on the Rabies tag. Those became dead ends, as the number on file for this owner was disconnected and he was told that they couldn't get through. Rubio messaged the chip number to Microchip Hunters, who through some researching on the internet, discovered the owner on the microchip had passed away a couple of years ago. Microchip Hunters did some further research, and found some family members at an address just under a 1/2 mile down the street from the found location. Rubio was able to bring Precious home, and they were very grateful. She is a senior girl and is loved. The microchip has been updated, and an ID tag with her address and phone number ordered to add to her tags on her collar! Welcome home Precious, and thanks to the Good Samaritan and Rubio for keeping her safe, and getting her home! She didn't need a new home!
