Champ says, “I didn’t like being lost. It was scary. I missed my Daddy so much! Thank goodness that someone took me to a place that had good food, water, and a safe place to sleep!
Even though the phone number on my chip was current, my Daddy was in the hospital and couldn’t answer or return the call. But I was a good boy while I waited. I thought, ‘what happens now?’ Don’t worry, Champ. Microchip Hunters to the rescue! Our new volunteer Cheryl was able to locate the owner’s son, who said Champ had been missing for two months! What a relief to the owner, who had been powerless to help in the search for his good boy. Champ had already been vetted and neutered when adopted from a shelter in February, and with the help of family, he went home to wait for his owner to come home from the hospital. They were so happy!!! MICROCHIPING WORKS! KEEP YOUR INFORMATION CURRENT! Thank you Chicago Animal Care and Control for sending this to Microchip Hunters, and for working with the family for Champ's reclaim! Lost Dogs Illinois www.microchiphelp.com #MicrochipHunters

Microchip Hunters received a case from Chicago Animal Care and Control for a microchip that went back to a rescue in Oregon. When Microchip Hunters contacted, we were told that they had no information for this microchip, and that it was possibly a clinic they did a couple of years ago.
Microchip Hunters posted to Lost Dog Illinois, in hopes that the owner would see the post, or fans would recognize her! And our fans did it again! Bella's family registered her as lost to Lost Dogs Illinois, and within minutes the match was made! Thank you to everyone that matched her to the found post on our page! Should be a simple reunion at animal control, right??? Well, Bella's microchip number did not match the number in the dog at CACC. I called the rescue again, and they did not have this owner's information in their system either. It was closing time at CACC, so this would need to be sorted out the next day. Microchip Hunters requested CACC rescan the dog, for the chance that there is a second chip. Bella did in fact have 2 microchips, both from Oregon, both from rescues there. Her family knew nothing about her first microchip, so only had the second one registered. ---------------------------------------------------------- It is never suggested to have more than one microchip, but if there is, you are going to have to be sure to update BOTH every time there is a change. You don't know which microchip the scanner is going to read first, and facilities are not scanning looking for multiple chips .From Maria, the owner: "You guys are great! Thanks again for everything. It was amazing how fast she was found with you! I wrote a little blurb for you to include on your website re Bella's recovery, Once again, thanks for all your help, I'm forever in your debt. --Lost Dog Illinois' and Microchip Hunters help in recovering my Bella proved invaluable. Bella had already been lost for three days when I posted her info and it seems that in just a few minutes someone was texting me that they had seen her on the City Animal page as well. I went to pick her up, but unfortunately the City was unable to give her to me because the chip number they had for her didn't coincide with the number they had scanned twice already. Finally, with help from Lost Dog Illinois Microchip Hunters, and Jeannine from the City Shelter, it was discovered that Bella had 2 microchips and we were able to clear up the confusion. I'm forever grateful for Lost Dog Illinois and Microchip Hunters' assistance. They called the shelter where Bella was originally adopted and were in communication with both Chicago Animal Care and Control and me until the very last minute" Home at Last! #LostDogsIllinois #PetFBI ID# 647179 After 6 long months and many tears, Heidi is back home!
Lino, a Good Samaritan, found this little, very skinny dog and posted her to a neighborhood Facebook page! She had a microchip that led to a dead-end per the vet. Cecy, a fan of Lost Dogs Illinois and Microchip Hunters messaged Microchip Hunters (thank you) who looked the chip up and saw a registration for an address about a mile away. The phone number was not a working number, but with some background searching, the son's number was found. He had his sister call me and she was shocked - she said that they had put posters up and everything and that she is a very skittish dog. It is her mom's dog that went missing 6 months ago. They assumed the worst, and 'cried so much about her.' I gave Heidi's family the number for Lino and they went over to get her. Lino said, 'she was crazy wagging her tail and crying - poor baby.' Thank you for your help with her, Lino! We hope all Good Samaritans scan for microchips and do all they can to reunite these dogs, families really do count on it! Heidi will be seeing the vet Monday. From Heidi's family: "She is so happy to be home! Thank you so much for your help, we truly appreciate it!" We will be helping make sure the microchip gets updated correctly Lost Dogs Illinois www.microchiphelp.com #MicrochipHunters Thank you to fan AJ for sharing a post from Union County Animal Control, Cobden IL to Lost Dogs Illinois. The post was of a senior Chihuahua (17) with a microchip and Cook County Rabies tag. Union County stated they were having no luck contacting either of the numbers associated with the chip.
Microchip Hunters reached out to Union County AC to see about helping and was given the chip number. It looked like the owner on file had passed away, so some research was done, and the daughter was found. The daughter told me that her cousin Melody took Jack in when her parents had passed away. She called Melody who called me right away! Melody told me she and her two dogs were in the yard when suddenly Jack was gone. She was extremely happy to get this call, and I received a text 30 minutes later that he was home! Quickest reunite ever with an animal control facility! Thank you, Union County AC! We will be transferring Jack's microchip information over to Melody! Jack says, " thank you Ms. Jeanette"... he was left to me by my uncle who passed away in December, I know he is ancient, but he is like a family member, and we love him! Lost Dogs Illinois www.microchiphelp.com #MicrochipHunters Cindy P. found this sweet, friendly cat in Chicago and scanned her for a microchip. She was chipped! Cindy P. called the microchip company that the chip came from, and they reached out to Cleo's owner. Cleo's owner, Maira, panicked and went to see if her cat was home, and she was!
Cindy then messaged Microchip Hunters for help with this mixed-up chip. Microchip Hunters (MH) called the chip company and reached out to this owner (Maira) again to see if this could be figured out! Maira told me (MH) when she went to pick her cat Cleo up, there was someone also picking up from the facility. This other person, Brittany, also had a cat named Cleo and they came out with the wrong cat for her. She told them that wasn't her cat, and they went back and got the correct Cleo. They thought nothing of it after that. Thankfully, Maira had the paperwork provided to her, and read me the microchip number. It was not a match to the cat found! I contacted the Microchip company again and got the owner information for this second chip number, who was also registered to a cat named Cleo in Chicago. This address was about a mile from the found location! Brittany didn't answer the phone but did reply to my text asking if she was missing a cat named Cleo. "Yes, oh my goodness!! We've been looking for her. She was missing for roughly 3 days." I explained what happened with the microchip and she said, "They did bring out the wrong Cleo when I got her spayed." Please get your animals scanned at their next vet visit (or sooner) to make sure the microchip number is correct and contact the microchip company to make sure your information is registered correctly too if you haven't done so. Accidents happen and we don't want it to prevent a happy reunion such as this! Thank you, Cindy, and Maira for your help getting Cleo home to her family! Maira and Brittany will be correcting their microchip registrations, and the facility was notified too for their records! "Thank you so much, my girls will be so happy! Thanks for doing all this work!! Much appreciated" #MicrochipHunters www.microchiphelp.com Home at Last! The found Pekingese from #Chicago, IL is home safe and sound! Thank you to the 17th district for holding on to 'River' or 'Oliver' and for sharing the information about his microchip and tag to Garrido Stray who in turn messaged Microchip Hunters for help finding the family. Microchip Hunters researched the unregistered chip first, which was sold to a 'breeder sale' in Missouri. The microchip company had no computer records from that time to look anything up on this breeder. The dog was wearing a tag with the dog's name and last name. Microchip Hunters spent some time using background searches to find family members with this last name that lived in this area, but nothing was very close. Regardless, some calls and messages were sent, and I received a reply from the son. He said his mom gave River away in December as she was planning to go back to the Philippines. The son was able to provide me a number for the family they rehomed him to, and "Oliver's" new family was overjoyed to get the call. He let Oliver out in their fenced yard as usual in the morning, but someone had left the gate open overnight and he got out. Oliver's family didn't have transportation, so the 17th district graciously offered to give Oliver a ride home! He is now home safe; microchip will be registered and a new tag for his collar is ordered! Welcome home, Oliver! Hope you enjoyed your day! #LostDogsIllinois #PetFBI ID# 639047 #MicrochipHunters "NALA WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE ME. I TOOK HER FOR A BATH AND A CHEESEBURGER."
Nala was found as a stray, and taken to Animal Care League in Oak Park. The microchip was never registered and this was a 900 series microchip that led to a dead end, so ACL sent it to Microchip Hunters! They also registered the found dog to petFBI for Lost Dogs Illinois to post as found! Thank you! Microchip Hunters did some digging and was able to determine the breeder by finding another Corso in the lot of chips. The breeder emailed back that they were moving and didn't have access to records, but would see what they could find. I let them know the chip was from end of 2020. I received an email back that they found some information. The breeder just had the name of the owner, there was no address, phone number or email on record. I did some searching online and reached out to someone with a matching name in Chicago. She didn't seem to think that I had the right number at first, but when I mentioned the breed and coloring, and sent a photo, she couldn't believe it! She and her ex had parted ways, and he took Nala with him. He ended up rehoming her, and she didn't know. She contacted her ex who reached out to the family that took her in but they could not keep her, so she reached out to ACL right away to make arrangements to pick her up! "Nala was so excited to see me. I took her for a bath and a cheeseburger." We are so glad she was able to get home to her family. Microchip and register your dogs, you never know when they will end up somewhere without you knowing! They are relying on you!!! Welcome home Nala! Nala's family made sure to register the microchip, and Microchip Hunters will be talking to the breeder to help them understand the importance of having their information show as the 'sold-to facility.'
