Home at Last! The found Japanese Chin/Papillon from #CarolStream #HanoverPark, IL is home safe and sound! Her name is Yumi and she is 17 years old! Found 2024-03-12 Reunited 2024-03-12. Welcome home, Yumi!
Thank you Chris from the Carol Stream PD for posting this 17 year old girl to Lost Dogs Illinois, in hopes of getting her home prior to going to animal control! "A Lost Dogs Illinois, Microchip Hunter volunteer was able to investigate many twists and turns to find current owner info from a 17 year old (never updated) microchip! So much time was spent researching many different contacts & several dead end numbers for a dog that had been rehomed 6 years ago without updating microchip info. Please, please, please make sure that you update contact information with your pet's microchip company. If your pet gets lost with old or non-existent contact info, you may never get your pet back." Yumi's family of 11 years was also happy to see she is doing well! The current family was out looking when they received this call! Thank you to the finder who turned her in too! She is one lucky dog, loved by many! #LostDogsIllinois #PetFBI ID# 623923 #Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com

What are the odds?
Two dogs were picked up together today in #BlueIsland IL and taken to the police station. They were scanned for microchips but only one had a chip. Cindy S. messaged Microchip Hunters for help. I (Microchip Hunters) pulled up the owner information and tried the number, but it was disconnected, and I was unable to find any other current number for this owner. I did find a couple other family members at the address, searched for phone numbers, and the first message I sent was a reply of "OMG that's my dog!" His name is Coco. He was missing about a week now. I asked if she had a second dog and she said, no, just one. He is a Pomeranian. I sent Coco's family a photo of the second dog and was told that she didn't recognize him. She texted her grandmother the photo of this second found dog, as it was hard to tell what he looked like. His hair is long and was very messy from all the rain. Her grandmother said that it is her dog Peluche, who was missing for a couple of weeks now! Both families live just around the corner from each other and somehow, they found each other, though they didn't go missing together! This is such a great ending for Coco, Peluche and their families! As Coco's owner said, "Dogs are really amazing they found each other. Thank you so much again. My grandma is very happy now, she thought she would never see her dog again." What are the odds??? These dogs went missing a week apart, found each other, ended up at the police station, and both got home because the granddaughter's dog was microchipped!!! Found and reunited 3/8/2024 So happy everything fell into place! Welcome home Coco and Peluche!! Thanks Coco for finding Peluche, and to all that helped them get home! We love Police Departments that scan for chips and work with the community to get animals home! We will share back home photos when we receive them. The microchip will also be updated! Lost Dogs Illinois #MicrochipHunters www.microchiphelp.com Lucky has been reunited!
Thank you to Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation for requesting help from Microchip Hunters! Microchip Hunters found a name attached to the phone number on the dog's tag. Thankfully Lucky had his last name on the tag to help narrow down the list of possible owners to the number. His family was looking for him all day Sunday! "He is from Kentucky and is unfamiliar with the neighborhood. He went missing this past Saturday and was saved by our Court Advocates, Marjorie and Joyce. He had a collar with a name tag, but the phone number was unfortunately invalid. After contacting Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters for help, we were able to reunite this pup today. His mom left on Sunday for Kentucky, so grandma picked him up. Lucky lived up to his name. Happy reunion! " Not all animals found abandoned need a new home!
This 2-year-old cat was found (left) outside of Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC), but did have a family that came to get her as soon as they heard! Thank you CACC for sending this to microchip hunters when the phone number from the microchip was disconnected. Microchip Hunter Dianne reached the ex mother-in-law who helped get in touch with the family. When the family learned where she was, they made arrangements for a ride and picked her up the next day. They had her since she was a kitten and love this little 2-year-old cat. Welcome home! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com From Microchip Hunter Dianne: "I was able to contact Tina and her daughter! They were both very excited to hear something about the pup. They live in Gary, Indiana. The father and son on the microchip had both passed away, and someone had told these ladies that the pup had run away. They were thrilled to find out that the dog is safe. Tina was very worried since she didn't know where the pup was. The dog is a link to their family who have passed on, and it they really want him back!"
Thank you to Chicago Animal Care and Control for sending this to Microchip Hunters for help! We love this story, and were very happy to be able to reunite this family! Found 12/24/2023 Reunited 1/4/2024 Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com There is a twist! 'Glitter' is 'Envy'
Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) sent this microchip to Microchip Hunters when they didn't hear back from the owner on file for this dog. Her name was listed as Glitter. Microchip Hunters reached out and was able to connect with the most recent owner on file (There were 2 registrations with 2 chip companies and 2 owners). Glitter's owner, however, said that she took off after a car just a few months after he adopted her and couldn't find her. He now lives in a high-rise that doesn't allow dogs. We asked that he surrender the dog to animal control, and after talking further, learned she was adopted from another shelter. We let this shelter know in case they wanted to pick her up, and also let CACC know where she came from. The shelter picked her up the next day. She had already been at CACC for 6 days. During this transition time, Microchip Hunters thought it would be a good idea to reach out to the original owner as we usually do, just in case, and we are glad we did! Her number was not current, but a current number was found, and her dog Envy had been missing for several months!!! Envy had been transferred in previously from yet another shelter. We are not sure why Envy wasn't originally reunited before she was transferred and then adopted out, but we are glad she was found again, and now back with her original family where she was missed! Thank you Chicago Animal Care and Control for working with Microchip Hunters - Envy didn't need a new home, she just needed to go home! Microchip Hunters received a private message from a finder of a cat in Indiana, along with a form submission to microchiphelp.com. "The vet told us it was unregistered and there was no other information attached." It turns out the microchip submitted had one too many extra letters and numbers. Microchip Hunters started trying a few combinations while waiting for the cat to be rescanned tomorrow by the finder. After seeing registrations for a Husky and a Rottweiler, the third try was a charm. It was a black and beige cat in the same city! I called the owner, and he said his cat went missing two weeks ago, and he was waiting for this call. He looked everywhere for him. He said one minute he was sniffing the 'flowers' and the next he was gone! He was devastated and said it is just "him and me. I'm pretty excited. He is 8 years old" He asked that I give the finder his number. Jeffrey, the finder, messaged me "We're taking him over now! Thanks so much for your help. You do incredible work." So happy they decided to give Microchip Hunters a try, and that they cared enough about this cat to make sure the microchip was truly a dead end. What a wonderful thing you did for this cat and his family! Thank you Adam and Jeffrey! Would this cat have gotten home if he wasn't microchipped??? Glad we didn't need to find out! Welcome home Tiger, you are loved! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Senior boy Louie was missing since 11/6!
Microchip Hunters and Lost Dogs Illinois helped Louie get home after he was brought to Chicago Animal Control, 11/29! The family was so happy to get this call, and Microchip Hunters will be registering the microchip with the family! The family needed help with Louie's reclaim fees, and of course Lost Dogs Illinois assisted, with your help. He is 12 years old and needed to be home where he is loved! Please donate if you can, so we can continue helping dogs like Louie get back home quickly! Missing 11/6/2023 Reunited 11/30/2023 Welcome home Louie! Bubba and Dino were both found on Saturday, and taken to the Chicago Police Department, then to Chicago Animal Care and Control on Saturday, 11/25. They were microchipped to the same owner, but the phone number wasn't current. Chicago Animal Care and Control sent this to Microchip Hunters, and volunteer Deb wasn't having any luck reaching the family through numbers or emails, but the Facebook profile was a company and that phone number produced results! Bubba and Dino's owner wanted to come get them right away, but it was already past closing time at CACC, so he had to wait until today! So happy for these two, we heard that Bubba was "just standing outside crying, looking for his owner." Welcome home, you are loved! Lost Dogs Illinois www.microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters "Thank you for finding his owners and making this all possible. What valuable work you do!"11/26/2023 "Thank you for finding his owners and making this all possible. What valuable work you do!"
Someone had reported a cat coming to a feeding station. They were able to scan for a microchip but the phone number wasn't current, so a rescue was reached and sent the information to Microchip Hunters. Microchip Hunter Deb took the case and was able to reach the family through Facebook Messenger. The family let her know this cat had shown up at their farm and visited on and off for a year. He finally let them pick him up and they took him for neutering and vaccines and released him back in his 'original' environment. He had been gone for 2 weeks or so. They said they 'would be happy to get him and bring him back.' Laurie from the rescue sent an updated email this morning, as they were hoping to get him into a home where he could be kept inside: "Very good news to report. The black kitty is named Lenny. The horse farm owner picked him up and one of her riding students family fell in love with him and are taking him into their home! Thank you for finding his owners and making this all possible. What valuable work you do!" We were happy to hear this wonderful update, thank you Laurie for helping Lenny! Welcome home Lenny!!! Enjoy the indoor life!!!
