Blind dogs get out too!

Blind dogs get out too!

Max's family was out of town when Max was let out in the yard with his 7 year old Golden Retriever sibling. In the blink of an eye he went missing. Max is 15 years old, and blind, so couldn't have gotten too far. Thankfully he was picked up safely and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control where he was scanned for a microchip that led to owners in Michigan, both names and numbers were outdated and led to a dead end.

CACC sent this over to www.microchiphelp.com and after pulling up some background searches, Microchip Hunter Bev began attempts to reach these two owners on file. The searches still showed they resided in Michigan.

After leaving voicemails, texts and emails explaining why she was reaching out to what appeared to be current numbers, a phone call from Chicago came in to Bev. Kevin received a message that Max was found, and wanted to know how to pick him up. He said Max was rehomed to him 15 years ago.

Because the microchip was never transferred over to Kevin, the owners from the microchip had to email CACC authorizing him to be able to pick Max up. They called CACC but never emailed. Luckily, Kevin also found the paperwork from these original owners when he took Max in!

"Thank you and Bev so much for everything you have done to help us find Max and get him home."

Max is home, thank goodness! Missing 6/23/2022 Reunited 6/25/2022 Welcome home precious boy.

Please be sure when you get a microchipped pet from someone to transfer the ownership on the microchip to you to avoid any trouble being able reclaim them!

Here are some more dogs that have been reunited with the help of Microchip Hunters! Thank you to Chicago Animal Control for reaching out for help.

Sheba's microchip was still registered to her previous family, who contacted her new family! They both went to pick her up! It is now updated!

Skyla's microchip was not registered and the animal hospital that mmicrochipped her had an outdated phone number. I was able to reach the family who had rehomed her because of housing arrangements, but he was able to get a friend to keep her until he gets in a place that he can keep her. She is being very loved.

Delilah's family went to pick her up as soon as they heard she was there. A good samaritan had brought her to CACC. The daughter was able to pick her up!

Welcome home to you three!

Remy was found, and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control. When they checked her microchip informaiton, the number provided was disconnected so they sent it to Microchip Hunters.

Microchip Hunter Liz did some digging and found Remy's family on facebook. Though they are now in South Dakota they had been looking for Remy, and said that Remy grew up with their daughter. She said someone else will be picking Remy up for them, and emailed CACC to give authorization.

Remy was picked up, and we are so happy Chicago Animal Care and Control sent this to us to help her get home to her family. Remy is 13 years old, and didn't need a new home.
Welcome home Remy!

Chicago PD brought Blackie in to CACC overnight...

His microchip was not registered but #PawsChicago was able to provide the owner information from 2013. The phone number was no longer working so Chicago Animal Control asked Microchip Hunters to help.

Our Microchip Hunter volunteer Lisa found the family on facebook and sent a message. She received a call almost immediately! Blackie's family thought he was stolen, and was so happy he was found!

Welcome home Blackie!!! His microchip is now registered!

Good hearted people...

Heather received a facebook message from our microchip hunter Liz, after Chicago Animal Care and Control couldn't reach her from the microchip. The unregistered microchip backtracked to a rescue that had the information for Heather, but it wasn't current. Heather replied that she adopted the cat out as a kitten and wasn't in contact with the person she adopted her out to. This cat was left at CACC's door 12 years later, and Heather said she would pick the cat up. She was also under vet care.

Liz said Heather "has a good heart." She didn't want to leave her at animal control, and she went the next day to pick her up, cone and all. She said the cat is safe with her.

On the road...

This girl's name is Jenny, "like Jennifer Lopez."

She was brought to Chicago Animal Control on 5/31/2022 wearing a rabies tag from 2019.
Chicago Animal Control waited for owner information from Cook County and then sent it to Microchip Hunters.

I was able to speak to a family that lives in the same home as Jenny's owner. Elvis said that the owner is a truck driver and they watch Jenny when he is away. They said that Jenny is 16 years old, and that her family loves her so much. They had her out in the backyard and left for a minute when Jenny must have drifted into the alley and was picked up right away. Jenny's owner uses this family's phone number for all her paperwork, since he is on the road a lot.

Elvis said he will go pick her up 'tomorrow,' and he did.

Personal ID tag

King, a little Pomeranian was found in #Chicago #IL today. He had an ID tag on, but the number was not current. Microchip Hunters was tagged on a found post and the finder Araceli messaged the tag information!

I came up with the owner's information but wasn't successful with the numbers I tried. I found some matching last names at some addresses and received a call back from an aunt who passed along the information. The owner called me back and said she was missing King - she thought he was stolen. She said her number on the ID tag was old!

King was picked up - thank you Araceli for caring for him during your busy day!

Disconnected number from Rabies Tag

Chicago Animal Control took this dog in, and he was wearing a rabies tag that was current. The vet that this tag was issued to tried to call the family but had no luck. CACC sent it to microchip hunters.

After getting owner information from the vet, I spent some time trying numbers to this owner. None were correct. After many attempts to family members, I finally reached the mom, who was looking for Chapo!

Arrangements were made and Chapo went home yesterday!

Welcome home Chapo!

Thank you David for taking care of Benji while Microchip Hunters worked on the microchip!

Microchip Hunter Volunteer Amy W. spent a couple of days trying to reach this boy's family when the microchip had outdated contact information! There was no email attached to the microchip and the phone number was not current. Amy W. found a number for the father who let Isabel know that Benji was found, and Isabel contacted David as soon as she got word!

Benji's microchip is now updated and Benji is home!
