Thank you Rescue One in Missouri for sending this dead-end microchip to Microchip Hunters. The phone number on the microchip for Red's family was disconnected.
Microchip Hunters (MH) was able to reach a daughter who told me her mom was missing Red for a couple of weeks now. She asked if the Rescue (finder) could please call her since her mom is not good with technology and doesn't text. Thank you to the finder who kept her safe and fed for the two weeks, and to the rescue for requesting help! Red is home, and she didn't need a new family, her family was missing her. Home at Last! The found Poodle/GoldenDoodle from #Kildeer, IL, is home safe and sound! Her name is Lucy! The finder submitted the chip to microchip hunters (MH) who was able to get owner information. Though the microchip had a disconnected phone number, MH did a little research and found a current number. Lucy’s family replied that they were at church and picked her up as soon as they left. “Lucy just left with the owner. Thank you so much for finding them!” Found 03-30-2024. Reunited 03-30-2024. Once posted to Lost Dogs Illinois, our volunteer recommended that Moses send the chip to Microchip Hunters who found that Chicago Animal Care and Control microchipped Cubby 11 years ago!!! The phone number was not current, but a number for the daughter was found. She said he went missing on Wednesday, and she was provided the information to update the microchip!

Fluffy wound up at Kane County Animal Control - his microchip was registered to two chip companies, and had 2 phone numbers and addresses. Neither phone number was current, so they sent this to Microchip Hunters (MH) for help! MH volunteer Stephanie was having no luck connecting, so as a last resort she contacted the next door neighbor who recognized Fluffy right away. He went over to talk to the family and let them know where Fluffy was. The owner only spoke Spanish, so Stephanie didn't actually talk directly to him. The neighbor relayed that Fluffy's family was out of work and how things are hard for them. Thank you Stephanie! Days went by and Fluffy was still at KCAC. Today, I (MH director) received a call from Fluffy's family asking if he was still there (in Spanish). I don't speak Spanish, but used translate to help and we texted back and forth. He needed help with the fees, so let him know that Lost Dogs Illinois (with the help of supporters) would help him pay the fees. It was nearly $300 - thankfully he was neutered so there wasn't an extra charge. A couple hours later, Fluffy's family arrived at Kane County, and though payment through a third party was difficult, we managed to make it work, and Fluffy went home! "I have to tell you I'm super excited. Thanks to you, you have joined a family together. Fluffy is my life." Obstacles to reclaim dogs exist, whether it be financial, transportation, language barriers, etc. Found 3/15/2024 Reunited 3/27/2024 Welcome back to your family Fluffy, you are loved! Microchip Hunter Weslee searched to find a working number and found a daughter, who let her know that her mom rehomed the dog to the Aunt, but that the Aunt rehomed him when she moved and couldn't take him with her. They were working on reaching the family that they rehomed Scruffy to, and Weslee got a call from them!!!
"The current owner did lose her dog and just got in touch with me!! She wants him back!! ♡" Scruffy didn't need a 4th home, he just needed to go home! He is loved! Lost Dogs Illinois www.microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters This little dog was found in Durham, NC. The finder sent this microchip to Microchip Hunters who found that the owner lived just 2 doors down. The microchip was not registered and the phone numbers and email provided by the shelter were not valid.
Due to privacy reasons, Microchip Volunteer Deb told the finder to knock on some doors on her block but could not provide the name or address to the finder without permission. No luck. Flyers were also recommended. Deb asked the police department the next day if they would be willing to go to the home to see if it was ok to provide the address to the finder, and they did! Stinky is now back home to her family, and Microchip Hunters was able to get the microchip registered! Thank you to all who helped this little dog get home! Lost Dogs Illinois #MicrochipHunters www.microchiphelp.com Thank you to finder Julian for taking this little Chihuahua in when found in the alley. He was wearing a 2019 Rabies tag - Julian submitted the tag number to Microchip Hunters after Susan D and other fans mentioned!
Microchip Hunters (MH) was able to contact Cook County Animal Rabies and Control (CCARC). Unfortunately I was told that the chip has no information attached to it, but that it was sold to Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC)! CACC was able to provide owner information, and Guero's family was so relieved to get this call. The family said "Guero has been missing since yesterday." Thank you Julian, CCARC, CACC, Susan D and fans, and all who helped get Guero home where he is loved! Julian was only able to hold on to him for a couple more hours before taking him to animal control. Glad he made it home quickly! Lost Dogs Illinois ordered an ID tag for his collar! Thank you Chris from the Carol Stream PD for posting this 17 year old girl to Lost Dogs Illinois, in hopes of getting her home prior to going to animal control! "A Lost Dogs Illinois, Microchip Hunter volunteer was able to investigate many twists and turns to find current owner info from a 17 year old (never updated) microchip! So much time was spent researching many different contacts & several dead end numbers for a dog that had been rehomed 6 years ago without updating microchip info. Please, please, please make sure that you update contact information with your pet's microchip company. If your pet gets lost with old or non-existent contact info, you may never get your pet back." Yumi's family of 11 years was also happy to see she is doing well! The current family was out looking when they received this call! Thank you to the finder who turned her in too! She is one lucky dog, loved by many! #LostDogsIllinois #PetFBI ID# 623923 #Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com What are the odds?
Two dogs were picked up together today in #BlueIsland IL and taken to the police station. They were scanned for microchips but only one had a chip. Cindy S. messaged Microchip Hunters for help. I (Microchip Hunters) pulled up the owner information and tried the number, but it was disconnected, and I was unable to find any other current number for this owner. I did find a couple other family members at the address, searched for phone numbers, and the first message I sent was a reply of "OMG that's my dog!" His name is Coco. He was missing about a week now. I asked if she had a second dog and she said, no, just one. He is a Pomeranian. I sent Coco's family a photo of the second dog and was told that she didn't recognize him. She texted her grandmother the photo of this second found dog, as it was hard to tell what he looked like. His hair is long and was very messy from all the rain. Her grandmother said that it is her dog Peluche, who was missing for a couple of weeks now! Both families live just around the corner from each other and somehow, they found each other, though they didn't go missing together! This is such a great ending for Coco, Peluche and their families! As Coco's owner said, "Dogs are really amazing they found each other. Thank you so much again. My grandma is very happy now, she thought she would never see her dog again." What are the odds??? These dogs went missing a week apart, found each other, ended up at the police station, and both got home because the granddaughter's dog was microchipped!!! Found and reunited 3/8/2024 So happy everything fell into place! Welcome home Coco and Peluche!! Thanks Coco for finding Peluche, and to all that helped them get home! We love Police Departments that scan for chips and work with the community to get animals home! We will share back home photos when we receive them. The microchip will also be updated!
