Phineas was picked up as a stray and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control - his microchip information wasn't current, so the information was sent to Microchip Hunters!
Microchip Hunter Ashley worked sending emails, texts, and using social media to try to track down Phineas’ owners. Luckily, one of the numbers she found was Phineas’ “grandma,” who sent along the info and the owner quickly reached out to connect. In a twist no one saw coming, Phineas’ owner shared that he had gotten out while they were out of town… in 2020!!! Phineas went home today, and that smile says it all. Precious was found by a Good Samaritan who had her scanned for a microchip! After posting the dog as found to a neighborhood page in Chicago, the Good Samaritan was advised by Susan D to reach out to Microchip Hunters (www.microchiphelp.com) because the number on the microchip was no longer current. The police department that scanned her told the Good Samaritan that 'the phone number was out of service and the address might be old.'
Well, the information was outdated, and it took a lot of digging to find a working number for someone that could help me get a hold of Stacy, but it worked! The person that I reached said, "Stacy must be going crazy looking for that dog" and she asked me to hold on. She called Stacy and patched her in! She was going crazy, and Precious wasn't found close to home! Stacy had photos of her and her dog on her phone and called the finder to arrange a pickup! She went home, and Stacy told me she has had Precious since she was 3 months old; she is now 7. She didn't know where or how to update the microchip so was provided the chip number, and the information for both chip companies to call and update her information! Thank you to Jesus and his family for taking in Precious, and to Susan D for always referring to Microchip Hunters. Teamwork got her home. Found 1/12/2023 Reunited 1/13/2023 Welcome home Precious! Leo was brought to Chicago Animal Control by a Good Samaritan that found him. His microchip wasn't registered, but his family's information was found through Paws Chicago where he was microchipped. The phone number, however, wasn't working. Microchip Hunters worked on reaching his family for Chicago Animal Control and were happy to be able to find someone that lived in the same building! She knew to owner, and said, "Oh Leo, that's their baby!" Rose said she was at work but would try to reach a neighbor. A couple of minutes later, I received a call back, and Rose along with another gentleman added the owner and his stepfather to the call. They were describing their Pitbull, and said, we will go get him now! Leo was reunited with his family shortly after! We will follow up to make sure the microchip also gets registered! Welcome home Leo! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters received a message from the 25th District regarding a white Pitbull they had taken in as found. He had a 2021 rabies tag, and he was transferred to Chicago Animal Control.
Chicago Animal Control needed help tracking this rabies tag, so they also sent it to Microchip Hunters. Microchip Hunters was able to reach the family that the tag was linked to, but they had rehomed Keelo nearly 2 years ago. They did however contact the family they rehomed him to, and I got a call back from them. Keelo's family told me he is deaf, and the neighbors left the gate open on Christmas Day. Keelo's family went to Chicago Animal Control. It was the day after the hold was up by the time the case was received, information was provided from the animal hospital because of the long holiday weekend, etc., but they were able to claim him, get him neutered and chipped, and pick him up the next day!
