*** Testimonial From Beth *** Jeanette!! All the credit goes to her - she tracked down the owner using the chip number even though two separate vet offices didn't turn up results! She connected me with the owner and that puppy is safely home!

This beautiful German Shepherd had an unregistered Avid microchip that backtracked to Animal Welfare League. Chicago Animal Care and Control contacted Animal Welfare League but they were unable to find the owner information from the microchip of this girl. This was sent to Microchip help.
Diane from Animal Welfare League was able to help us! She made sure to get this chip thoroughly researched so that microchip hunters could get a hold of her family! She gave us the owner information, but the description of the dog didn't match, nor did the age of the dog. We went with it anyway and began our research! It turns out that this was Miska's family, and they were looking for her for two weeks, and were just giving up. As soon as they got the call, they responded and went to CACC that same day! Miska stayed one more day to be spayed, and went home yesterday! Our Microchip Hunters group doesn't give up easliy. Thankfully it was a match! Welcome home Miska. You were away long enough! Microchip Help Microchip Hunters Lost Dogs Illinois Momma’s 24 Petwatch microchip was never registered. Chicago Animal Care and Control sent this to us at Microchip Help after also contacting the implant facility, VCA Forest Park Animal Hospital, and getting two disconnected numbers for the owner from 2012.
We began researching the owner information, but sadly she had passed away years ago. Thankfully, there was a long list of relatives to try! I began calling relatives but wasn’t hearing back from anyone, so tried Marie on Facebook messenger. I also commented on a post of hers with a picture of Momma asking if she recognized this found girl. Marie commented back! She said that Momma was her mom’s dog before she passed away. Before I knew it, several relatives shared in the conversation! They all recognized Momma! She was given to a granddaughter, Mary, and cousin Sherice called Mary to let her know and to help get her home. Mary said she had been missing a couple of months. Momma is a lucky girl. She was able to stay in the family. Sounds like this family sticks together and helps each other. We love helping these reunions happen. Welcome home sweet Momma...you are loved Microchip Hunters Microchip Help Lost Dogs Illinois Maggie is a tiny dog with a huge heart. Two teenagers out for a walk heard her cries from a dumpster that she had been tossed into. There was a noose around her neck, with the end of the rope tied to the top rail of the dumpster. Fortunately, the level of trash was high enough to break Maggie's fall, and the teenagers rescued her before a storm rolled through that night, and before the trash was collected the next day.
The finders posted on on Lost Dogs of Texas, but nobody claimed her. Twisted Tails Animal Rescue stepped in. Maggie was unable to walk or go to the bathroom on her own. A veterinary exam showed an infection in her back. When that was treated, Maggie immediately began to improve. She is now enjoying life and has acquired a broad base of fans who covered her vet bills. Two goals remain for Maggie: First, a forever home when she's ready. She already has several potential adopters. Finally, Twisted Tails wants to assure justice for Maggie. Animal cruelty is now a felony in Texas, punishable with fines and even imprisonment. Maggie's microchip provided an important clue: Microchip Hunters traced it to an adoptive owner who reported Maggie had died the same time Maggie was found in the dumpster. The investigation is on-going. Her microchip may provide rescuers with the story Maggie can't tell for herself. Happily, her story continues with snuggles and lots of love. Microchip Hunters work so hard to get pets back home to their families. Sometimes we just don't get a response from the owner, even though we are sure we have contacted a correct phone number or email we have come up with. This time, we wanted to share this ending, it is a happy one!
After trying for days to reach Zuzu's registered owner by leaving voicemails, texts and emails to her and family members, I finally called the rescue she came from to see if they had information on her that we didn't. I wasn't expecting the response I got, and ended my call in tears. Happy tears. Zuzu's rescue, Lois from Mixed up Mutts, had taken Zuzu from a humane society in 2018, and it took months for her to let Lois pet her. She sent me the article on how Zuzu was found with 12 other dogs found from a hoarding situation, along with a bunch of adorable photos of Zuzu at her home with her. Zuzu was a terrified little girl, and Lois was so upset to hear that she was at Chicago Animal Care and Control, but was so glad we called her. She told me she would reach out to the adopters too, but if she didn't hear back in 24 hours she would come from South Bend Indiana to pick her up at Chicago Animal Care and Control, and that is what she did. "She's not an easy adoption, she is very scared. She still has a spot on my bed reserved." Lois told me, "Unless someone I know and trust wants to adopt her, she won't be going anywhere ever again. She's been through enough for one lifetime!" Zuzu is now back with Lois and both are super happy about it! You are loved Zuzu, and one lucky lucky girl!!! ***Photo of Zuzu at CACC and on her way back home*** ~Microchip Hunters Lost Dogs Illinois Chicago Animal Care and Control sent Sylvester's microchip information to us at Microchip Hunters: "The first number is disconnected; Second number just rings and never goes to voicemail"
Thank you to the Garrido Stray Rescue Foundationand the 16th District Chicago Police Departmentfor posting Thor found with us on#LostDogsIllinois, and also for sharing the microchip information to #MicrochipHunters to help find his family!
When I looked up Thor's microchip information, it came up as an UNREGISTERED Avid microchip, but I saw that Delta Animal Hospital was listed as the implant facility. Being Labor Day, I called Delta Animal Hospital assuming I wouldn't get anyone to answer today, but would leave a message that we were looking for owner information on this sweetheart. so we would hear first thing in the morning. I let Garrido's know this too. Just a few minutes later, I received a call from Delta Animal Hospital. They checked on the microchip, and said they would try and contact the owner and call me back. They left a message for the owner, but called me back and gave me the owner information just in case. I too left a vm and text to the number provided. I went to post this to our microchip hunter group, and when I put the number into Avid again, it showed that the owner just registered the microchip! I tried a second number that was listed and Stephanie answered that phone number right away! She said she realized that her family probably never registered the chip, so decided she would do it now. I heard back from the first number I called too - and let her know I had spoken to Stephanie. It is NEVER too late to check if your microchip is registered or up to date! You never know when someone will check for information again! Thor was picked up at the 16th District Chicago Police Department, who always keeps our found pets safe and cared for. Stephanie texted me, "My husband went to pick up Thor. He told me Thor was very scared. Thanks again for your help." Found 9/1/2019; Reunited 9/2/2019. Welcome home Thor! ***Lost and reunited photo below*** ~Microchip Hunters Lost Dogs Illinois I was asked if I could find this 14 year old Cocker Spaniel's family. Her name was Lady, and she was at Chicago Animal Care and Control on her very last day of her stray hold. She was there 6 days already. She was plump, so looked well fed and healthy. She had fleas and received a treatment for that at CACC. This 'friend' really hoped her family wanted her home. I pulled the owner information up from the microchip, and called Kim. . I saw that Lady was found less than a block from her home. The voicemail box was full and was not receiving messages. Just as I hung up to text, my phone rang, and it was Kim calling back. I asked her about Lady, and if she knew she was at animal control. She said she had received a letter, but told me she wasn't able to pay this fee at this time, so I let her know Lost Dogs Illinois could assist with that if she was able to care for Lady and wanted her home, but that she would have to pick Lady up that same day, by 7 pm. Her stray hold was ending. Kim said, "Yes, she is a good dog. We really miss her. Our other dog really misses her too. I will try and find a ride to get there today. Thank you so much for helping me! I'm sure I can get someone to take me over there. I don't live too far away." I told Kim we would help her with transportation if she couldn't get there. I let Chicago Animal Care and Control know what the situation was and that Lost Dogs Illinois would pay her redemption fee. When I checked pet harbors site that evening, I saw that Lady was still there. My heart sank. Early the next morning, I received a call from Kim. She said, my daughter is off today and is picking me up now to go get Lady. I let Chicago Animal Care and Control know this, but since her hold was up, she had already been picked up to go to Paws Chicago for adoption. Kim was in the parking lot waiting for CACC to open when I found this out. I called to let her know where Lady was going, and to give her the address. We contacted PAWS Chicago, and they were wonderful. They were expecting Kim, and when she got there, Lady was crazy happy to see her! Paws asked that Kim leave her there overnight just so she can get a vet exam before she goes home. Kim thought that was terrific, and her other dog and her family anxiously awaited for tomorrow to come! They offered to help her with the flea situation too! We are so glad that we were contacted about Lady. Thank you so much to Paws Chicago for realizing that Lady needed to go home to her rightful owner. It takes a village, but it also takes compassion.
