Microchip Hunters work so hard to get pets back home to their families. Sometimes we just don't get a response from the owner, even though we are sure we have contacted a correct phone number or email we have come up with. This time, we wanted to share this ending, it is a happy one!
After trying for days to reach Zuzu's registered owner by leaving voicemails, texts and emails to her and family members, I finally called the rescue she came from to see if they had information on her that we didn't. I wasn't expecting the response I got, and ended my call in tears. Happy tears. Zuzu's rescue, Lois from Mixed up Mutts, had taken Zuzu from a humane society in 2018, and it took months for her to let Lois pet her. She sent me the article on how Zuzu was found with 12 other dogs found from a hoarding situation, along with a bunch of adorable photos of Zuzu at her home with her. Zuzu was a terrified little girl, and Lois was so upset to hear that she was at Chicago Animal Care and Control, but was so glad we called her. She told me she would reach out to the adopters too, but if she didn't hear back in 24 hours she would come from South Bend Indiana to pick her up at Chicago Animal Care and Control, and that is what she did. "She's not an easy adoption, she is very scared. She still has a spot on my bed reserved." Lois told me, "Unless someone I know and trust wants to adopt her, she won't be going anywhere ever again. She's been through enough for one lifetime!" Zuzu is now back with Lois and both are super happy about it! You are loved Zuzu, and one lucky lucky girl!!! ***Photo of Zuzu at CACC and on her way back home*** ~Microchip Hunters Lost Dogs Illinois
