Chiquis went missing on March 11th, 2023. She was microchipped, and her family was actively looking for her! They checked with Chicago Animal Control to see if she was there a couple of times, but it was too early! She wasn't turned in until March 20th!
Chiquis' microchip was never registered and the facility that microchipped her didn't have any information, so Chicago Animal Care and Control sent the information to Microchip Hunters. Because no owner information could be found, Microchip Hunters posted to Lost Dogs Illinois, in hopes that the owner would see her post! It worked!!! I received a call yesterday from Stephanie who saw the post on Lost Dogs Illinois and told me it looks like we found her dog! The microchip number from her paperwork was a match and they went to Chicago Animal Control yesterday to pick Chiquis up! I made sure to help the family register the microchip properly, and a new ID tag was ordered for her collar! If you have your dog's microchip number, please always check to be sure it is registered, and your information is entered correctly! Also, keep checking with animal control, stray holds can be short and you never know when your dog will be picked up or turned in! Missing 3/11/2023 Reunited 3/24/2023 Welcome home, Chiquis! You are loved!!! So happy you are home!!! LostDogsIllinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com

Phantom's family received an email from Amy W with Microchip Hunters, who worked diligently to reach them!
He was picked up and is now back home - the microchip information for the family was not currrent so Chicago Animal Control asked for help! We are so happy he is home, and the microchip information has been updated!!! LostDogsIllinois MicrochipHunters Microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters received a text from Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation late evening yesterday. "Hello, if you're awake, they have this girl at the 16th District." I was awake and went to my computer to take a look at the microchip number, called the microchip company, and left a voicemail.
I spoke to the microchip company (Petkey) this morning, and they didn't have the chip number in their system but said their chip numbers a little different. After we hung up, I took another look at the chip number and was going to request a rescan. I changed a number to match the format and checked if it was registered, and sure enough it was, in 2013. I called the microchip company back in case it could be the correct number for this little girl and was told it was for a Papillon in Des Plaines, IL. I knew it had to be correct, so got the owner information. The phone number they provided went through and I left a voicemail and text but decided to check a little further after no response. I found a phone number that was one digit different, and left another voicemail and text, but also saw a relative that lives in Chicago close to the area "Scarlet" was found and tried them as well. I received a few calls back. Scarlet stays with the sister of the registered owner! She called me and went right away to pick her up. The microchip information was provided to the family so that it could be updated properly too! Welcome home Scarlet and thank you to the 16th district and Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation for caring for her and sending over the microchip information. We are always so happy when dogs get home to their families, and appreciate your trust in us. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Joker was found as a stray and taken to Chicago Animal Control with a rabies tag. Cook County Animal and Rabies Control was able to provide information on who owned the dog per the tag.
There were no replies for the phone number, so CACC sent the information to Microchip Hunters. Microchip Hunter Amy found a working number for the son, and he provided the correct number for the family, and Joker went home the next day! Welcome home little guy. He is now microchipped and a new ID tag was ordered for him! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Phineas was picked up as a stray and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control - his microchip information wasn't current, so the information was sent to Microchip Hunters!
Microchip Hunter Ashley worked sending emails, texts, and using social media to try to track down Phineas’ owners. Luckily, one of the numbers she found was Phineas’ “grandma,” who sent along the info and the owner quickly reached out to connect. In a twist no one saw coming, Phineas’ owner shared that he had gotten out while they were out of town… in 2020!!! Phineas went home today, and that smile says it all. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Precious was found by a Good Samaritan who had her scanned for a microchip! After posting the dog as found to a neighborhood page in Chicago, the Good Samaritan was advised by Susan D to reach out to Microchip Hunters (www.microchiphelp.com) because the number on the microchip was no longer current. The police department that scanned her told the Good Samaritan that 'the phone number was out of service and the address might be old.'
Well, the information was outdated, and it took a lot of digging to find a working number for someone that could help me get a hold of Stacy, but it worked! The person that I reached said, "Stacy must be going crazy looking for that dog" and she asked me to hold on. She called Stacy and patched her in! She was going crazy, and Precious wasn't found close to home! Stacy had photos of her and her dog on her phone and called the finder to arrange a pickup! She went home, and Stacy told me she has had Precious since she was 3 months old; she is now 7. She didn't know where or how to update the microchip so was provided the chip number, and the information for both chip companies to call and update her information! Thank you to Jesus and his family for taking in Precious, and to Susan D for always referring to Microchip Hunters. Teamwork got her home. Found 1/12/2023 Reunited 1/13/2023 Welcome home Precious! Leo was brought to Chicago Animal Control by a Good Samaritan that found him. His microchip wasn't registered, but his family's information was found through Paws Chicago where he was microchipped. The phone number, however, wasn't working. Microchip Hunters worked on reaching his family for Chicago Animal Control and were happy to be able to find someone that lived in the same building! She knew to owner, and said, "Oh Leo, that's their baby!" Rose said she was at work but would try to reach a neighbor. A couple of minutes later, I received a call back, and Rose along with another gentleman added the owner and his stepfather to the call. They were describing their Pitbull, and said, we will go get him now! Leo was reunited with his family shortly after! We will follow up to make sure the microchip also gets registered! Welcome home Leo! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters received a message from the 25th District regarding a white Pitbull they had taken in as found. He had a 2021 rabies tag, and he was transferred to Chicago Animal Control.
Chicago Animal Control needed help tracking this rabies tag, so they also sent it to Microchip Hunters. Microchip Hunters was able to reach the family that the tag was linked to, but they had rehomed Keelo nearly 2 years ago. They did however contact the family they rehomed him to, and I got a call back from them. Keelo's family told me he is deaf, and the neighbors left the gate open on Christmas Day. Keelo's family went to Chicago Animal Control. It was the day after the hold was up by the time the case was received, information was provided from the animal hospital because of the long holiday weekend, etc., but they were able to claim him, get him neutered and chipped, and pick him up the next day! Welcome home Keelo, found 12/25/2022, reunited 1/3/2022 Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Mia was at Will County Animal Control, and the owner from the microchip was unable to be reached.
Microchip Hunters was sent the chip and found a working phone number. Her family had rehomed her a couple of months prior, and they were so surprised. The new owner was not answering their calls. They are not home as much as they feel Mia needs, but her and her children love her, and we were told they missed her so much. Mia's family picked her up, with the help of Lost Dogs Illinois. They weren't able to pay the reclaim fee. In addition, Mia's family gave her food, leash, bowls, etc. to the new family. We reached out to Our House of Hope, Inc., in Libertyville, as this family lives in Lake County. Our House of Hope immediately said they could help with supplies, and they were able to pick them up right away! Sometimes things work out differently than we think. Mia has a family that loves her. We are happy she is back home with them.
