A Texas family found Deere as a stray and tried to find her family for a week! They posted to various groups and contacted the microchip company, but nobody contacted them. "In the mean time, she’s a great pup and we’re giving her tons of love. My young kids adore her."
They submitted to Microchip Hunters, who tried the number on file. It was not working, but a number for the mom of this owner was found after some searching, and she said she would reach her son! I got a text shortly after, "Hello, I heard you possibly found our dog?" I sent a photo, and they replied, "Yes, that's her!" It wasn't the person on the microchip! It turns out their roommate (the person on the microchip) took Deere to get chipped and vaccinated for them, and they didn't know how to check the chip or transfer the registration to them! Arrangements were made, and Deere went home. She was most happy to see her dog sibling! We heard that there would be a lot of talk at the home of the finder over Thanksgiving about getting a dog! We are so grateful for people who care for these missing dogs - thank you so much to Thomas and his family for all the love! Welcome home, Deere! These are just some of the dogs Microchip Hunters recently helped get back to their families in the last couple of weeks! Thank you to all those that helped in these reunions!
It really is a privilege to be able to help others.
Jack was taken to the Chicago Police Station and then taken to Chicago Animal Control. His microchip was registered but the phone number was not working. Once CACC sent to Microchip Hunters, it was discovered that the owner was deceased, and it took some scouring of relatives but I was finally able to connect with both a sister and a mother through some found phone numbers. When the registered owner passed away over 4 years ago, Jack stayed with the son. Both the sister and mother were unable to find a working number for him, but after trying many numbers, I found some emails, and only one did not bounce back...that did the trick! Richard called me and got very emotional. He saw my email. He had tied Jack up to a fence for 10 minutes to go up to talk to a friend and when he came out the leash was cut. He told me he thought someone stole Jack, and he is everything to him. He said I 'saved his life.' Richard had contacted the vet that microchipped Jack to help get the chip information sorted out, but it wasn't updated yet. Richard is going through some very tough times; he didn't have any money to pay for the reclaim and had a bus pass to get to CACC but no ride back to where he stays currently since he would have Jack with him. We (Lost Dogs Illinois/Microchip Hunters) told Richard the fee would be paid by Lost Dogs Illinois (thanks to our fans), and that we could pay for an Uber and/or see if anyone could help transport after the reclaim. I told him Jack was safe. I reached out to some people, and quickly heard back from Michelle that her boyfriend Joel could pick Richard and Jack up and get them back to where they stay! It is so amazing that they were willing to help, no questions asked. Jack went home with Richard the next day, shortly after Chicago Animal Care and Control opened. He received his vaccinations there, but was already neutered, so the wait wasn't too long. " I got out of there around 2:00 and Joel was already there waiting for me. Thank you again for arranging the ride. Joel is a really nice guy and I really appreciate the ride. Jack was so excited when he saw me it made everything that was dark turn light. Thank you again." We are so happy to be able to help dogs and families stay together. "Thank you for everything you have done for us. In a time of crisis, it's hard to know if I'm making the right decisions or not, so having people like you in the world makes a big difference." It is a privilege to be able to help these families, and I feel so blessed to be able to be a small part of it. Thank you to everyone for their part in this reunion! Welcome home Jack, you have no idea how much you are loved. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Thanks Garrido Stray Rescue Foundation for requesting help from Microchip Hunters for a dog taken to the 16th district Police Station with an unregistered microchip! Thank you to Jordan for picking him up and reuniting him!
Thankfully, the store the dog was sold from (closed) had another location that was able to help provide information on who the dog belonged to, and their number hadn't changed since 2011! When I called, the owner answered, "You have Logan!" I had to laugh, she assumed what the call was for. She said she was waiting for a call. We will be making sure the microchip gets registered properly! His family thought it was already done! Welcome home Logan, you are loved. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com "Hey, can I tell you two something really cool? Remember when I did that Zoom meeting because I volunteered with the nonprofit that tracks down people from microchips? Tonight, I finally got the courage to work my first case.
Pup is at a large city's shelter, (Chicago Animal Care and Control), and intake was yesterday. Contact info was out of date. The Microchip Hunter Admin provides some background info from various databases for you to work from after contacting the microchip company for owner information, and you also do research on the web on your own to find the owner. I tried the numbers listed for the owner, but they kept going to voicemails, so I left messages, and then texted them with the reason for my call. I blasted it to her number and a group of relatives found in the reports. Diesel lives with her ex-fiancé now, and was thought to have been stolen from the yard a while ago. She gave me his info, I called him! He said he had been missing for a while! Then I gave them all the info Microchip Hunters has about how to reclaim him and directions on how to update the contact info in the microchip registry. He went HOME! And that is why I want microchips in all our animals!" Happy Geri's first case was a success; Diesel and his family are happy too!!! Welcome home! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Thank you to Will County Animal Control for reaching out to Microchip Hunters for help finding owner information for this Corgi picked up by Braidwood Police Department! The microchip was not registered!
After some researching, Microchip Hunters was able to find and get owner information from the breeder in Indiana. Alicia answered the phone and didn't know Beautiful was lost. She had someone watching her while she was sick, and was very upset to get this news, but she and her husband went to pick Beautiful up minutes after receiving the call! She is now home with a registered microchip! Welcome home Beautiful!!! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Jackson County Animal Control in Wisconsin took in this little, well cared for dog, and she was microchipped to two people. Both of the phone numbers and addresses were outdated and addresses were a few hours from the facility.
Microchip Hunters were tagged on the post several times and reached out to the Jackson County by phone. They provided the microchip information. Microchip Hunters researched, sent emails, texts, and Facebook messages to anyone they could find connected to these two. Facebook profiles showed the two as 'friends.' After scouring one of their Facebook pages, a business was listed, so a message was left there, and a text too! That evening, the son messaged me and said his father never had a dog, but said he would reach out to him. I mentioned the second name on the chip, and she said that was his father's good friend. I thanked him and sent a photo. "OMG, I think that is Peanut." He said he would have them call. I heard from the father's good friend from the microchip. She called me sobbing and told me her story. She had Peanut for 8 years. This call meant everything to her, it had been years since she had seen Peanut and sent me multiple photos starting from her puppy years. (more of the story on her flyer below) "It's really been such a lovely experience. First you found me then we've worked it out and knew I had to go get her as soon as possible. I needed money I don't get paid till next Friday; a friend just instantly says 'will $200 be enough?' Then I wondered how I'm going to get there it's over 2 hours away and I was talking to another friend here at my building and he said he would drive me and wouldn't even charge me anything. Then one of the things I had to get was a paid receipt for a rabies vaccination in the future. because it's the law. We went to the vet and at first they said they wouldn't give me the receipt ahead of time, but my friend who drove us has two dogs and he spends a lot of money at this vet and pushed the envelope with them until they called the shelter and asked what they needed and I was able to get it. We are so thankful to you Jeanette!" What a wonderful group of people helping Peanut's family get her home!!! Thank you all!!! Microchips are so important, and is the only reason that Peanut got back to her. We will help ensure the microchip is registered correctly, and an ID tag was sent! Welcome home Peanut! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Chicago Animal Care and Control picked up this dog. She had an injured leg and was found by the Metra tracks in Chicago. A microchip was found, but the phone number wasn't working. Information was from Ohio! Microchip Hunters was sent the chip information!
Microchip Hunter volunteer Roseanne made a call and reached the owner on file. He contacted his ex girlfriend who had taken Pixy with her. She told him she wasn't going to reclaim her, so he made a trip from Ohio to pick her up the next day! Lost Dogs Illinois was asked if they could help with the reclaim fee, and of course we did! Welcome home Pixy, we are so glad your dad came for you so quickly. You are loved!!! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com These two dogs were found in Indianapolis, and only the older dog had a microchip. It was registered, but to someone in Oklahoma! There was an outdated phone number, and no email address associated to this family!
Thank you to fans who tagged Microchip Hunters and to the finder Victoria for following through and sending the chip information after being messaged!!! Microchip Hunters was able to find a current email, and received this reply: "Yes I have been looking all day since I got off work the other dog is a black Great Dane puppy! Thank you so much for reaching out to me. Felt like my heart was in my stomach." Once reunited, I provided the microchip information to the owner and helped make sure it was updated properly, and ID tags are also ordered for their collars! He didn't have Ghost's chip number so didn't know where to update! Tux and Ghost are both home, thank you Victoria!!! "Thank you so much Jeanette I can't even express how thankful I am you were able to help me locate them!!" Welcome home!!! You are loved! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Thank you Jane for reaching out to Microchip Hunters today to help reach an owner. Griffith Indiana Animal Control left a message for the family but they didn't hear back from them.
Microchip Hunters looked up the microchip, called the number on file, and the owner answered. She told me that Bo went missing Friday and she was devastated. I told her that Bo was found and taken to Griffith Indiana. She was so surprised and asked me how he got all the way over there! They live on the South Side of Chicago! Bo was found near Menards on Cline, near Gary Indiana. The family also told me that she typically doesn't answer calls she doesn't recognize, but that there was no name showing so she happened to pick up! Fortunately, her son was able to take her to reclaim Bo! We are so glad Griffith Animal Control asked for help! We are told this was a wonderful reunion with very nice people! Welcome home Bo!!!
