Princess was found as a stray, and David took her in, had her microchip scanned, and contacted Homeagain. Homeagain tried to contact the registered owner, but wasn't able to reach them.
David knew this girl must belong to someone, and he posted on multiple social media sites, where he was asked to submit the microchip information to microchip help. Though not officially submitted to microchiphelp.com, the microchip information made its way there, and microchip hunters were able to get in contact with the registered owner Rebecca by facebook messenger, after much digging. The facebook name wasn't exactly the same as the registered name on the chip. When I contacted Rebecca, she told me she hadn't seen Princess since 2017, when her and her ex Dan split up. Dan kept the dogs. She said "Miss that girl SO much." She sent me photos of both Princess and Roxy as puppies and adults, with her family. She told me she heard her ex had to rehome both dogs recently last she heard, but gave me his email address and started reaching out to people as well. She didn't have a current number for him. Rebecca asked me to let her know what happens. Just after messaging with Rebecca, the father called me from one of my messages, and gave me a current phone number for Dan. It was late so I emailed, but called and sent a text in the morning. I received a text saying, "Hello. I'm Phil I'm contacting about Princess. I received news that she was found ? Is she okay ? sigh I'm glad she's okay and where is she now ?! " I asked that he call me, and he said sure, please give me a few minutes. I was confused who Phil was, as I texted Dan! A call came in...it was from an interpreter service. She told me "Phil is deaf and I am interpreting for him." We talked about Princess, and Phil through the interpreter told me he is out of town, and had a dog walker watching Princess. He had been trying to reach this dog walker for days to see how Princess was doing, and wasn't getting any replies. "Now I know why," he said. Phil had no idea Princess was lost, and was so glad that David found her and was taking care of her all this time. David had her for 6 days. I gave Phil the phone number for David, and let David know that an interpreter would be calling for Phil to make arrangements to pick her up. I messaged Rebecca to let her know Phil contacted me. I mentioned that he was deaf, and she told me she and Dan are too, so that made sense to her! When I let David know, he said, "Wow, I did notice she understands more to hand commands!" David let me know that he heard from Phil, and told me "she lives near where I found her." I heard back from Dan too, through text. He told me the story about having to rehome both dogs in July until he gets into an apartment that allows dogs when his lease is up in 8 months. He split the dogs up to make it easier for the caretakers. He plans to get Roxy back when he gets his new apartment, but he said that Phil loves Princess so much, and that she loves Phil so much, that he doesn't have the heart to take her away from him. He misses Princess too, but see Roxy often. He sent me many photos of the two dogs. It was so sweet to see how many people love and care about these girls. I got this message from David late last night, "Princess is reunited with her owner Phil, thank you much!" He said they were both soo happy to see each other. David said Princess kept looking back to him too; I'm sure she is so grateful for all the love she got. David said he was at the point where he was going to keep her if no one claimed her. Princess made her way into his heart, and it was hard to let her go. David, thank you so much for everything; taking her in and caring for her, sharing to facebook pages, getting her scanned for a chip, sending chip information for help, and also for your refreshing, non-judgemental mentality about Princess and her owner. This helped get Princess home. It would have been easy to assume her family wasn't looking for her since nobody was responding to any found posts. Princess made her way into the hearts of many, and is one very loved girl Phil texted that she is very happy to be home, and said "she is grateful for reuniting us." When Chicago Animal Care and Control tried to call Rocky's family, the phone just rang and rang. It was an unregistered microchip, but PAWS Chicago had owner information from microchipping Rocky at a clinic. The alternate number Paws had was disconnected.
Microchip help also tried the number, and wasn't able to get a voicemail or an answer, so began researching the owner. The owner was elderly, and didn't have a whole lot of other numbers to try, but I tried some family members, associates and neighbors. I also sent an email to Lois. I tried the phone number that just rang and rang for a couple of days, at various times of the day, just in case. It worked! I finally received an answer. I could tell the gentleman that answered the phone was elderly too. He said Lois had heart surgery and has been in the hospital for 6 days, and will be for a couple more weeks. "He is our cat," he said, "can you please drop him off here?" He doesn't drive, and takes the bus to be with Lois in the hospital every day. He just got home. He also said he wouldn't have all of the reclaim fee right away. I told the sweet man that we could see about helping with the reclaim fee, and he told me he would let Lois know he wouldn't get there to see her Friday. He was going to take the bus to be to CACC right at noon to get Rocky. He said he will bring his carrier. Real Estate to the Rescue of Homeless Animals Chicago stepped up for us, and paid Rocky's reclaim fee, and Rocky was picked up as promised! I could feel this man's love for Rocky; the sadness that he was missing was loud and clear. It was so nice to be able to part of this happy reunion. We hope Lois is back home with the family soon too. Found 10/13/2019; Reunited 10/18/2019. Welcome home Rocky. You are loved. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Microchip He A little black cat made his way to Chicago Animal Care and Control on 10/15/2019. The information was sent to microchip hunters because he had an Avid microchip that wasn't registered, and they weren't having success getting owner information from the vet supply that sold the microchip.
The vet supply got back to me; they sold this microchip to Fox College Vet Tech Institute in 2014. I wasn't sure I was going to get anywhere with this, but called and left a voicemail with an account manager there. Luckily, the next morning, she called me back and let me know that PAWS Chicago facilitated this adoption! I called Paws and they gave me the owner information for Midnight, from 2014. I was hoping that would be it! But of course, my research wasn't done. The phone number for Carla was disconnected. Many numbers and emails later, I got an answer. The gentleman on the phone was her father who was at work. He told me he would give Carla my information. He wasn't sure her cat was missing. Carla called me this afternoon. When I told her where midnight was, the tears started. She could not believe how far Midnight was, and had no idea how he got to CACC. She told me she was going to get there to pick him up today, and she did! She said, "Thank you so much, I'm relieved that he is safe." I gave Carla the microchip information and she told me she was going to register tonight. She told me, "Midnight has always been curious about the outside world. I am glad this nugget is safe though." He was found 13 minutes from home!!! Found 10/15/2019; Reunited 10/17/19 Welcome home Midnight. You brought tears to my eyes today too! ***Photo of midnight back home tonight*** Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Microchip Help "Maybe you will have better luck"
Attempts were made to catch this little girl running along the highway. She is safe, was taken in by a good samaritan, and posted to a neighborhood page. This little Bichon Mix was wearing a current rabies tag, and the finder posted, "she is friendly and beautiful; someone I'm sure misses her." Several people attempted to get the owner's information from the Cook County rabies tag but it wasn't in the computer system yet. Vetco issued the rabies, but they had no luck getting information from them either. Thankfully the good samaritan was able to hold on to her, and continued waiting for her owner to find her. After several days had passed, Microchip Hunters was tagged on the post by Susan D, and the finder sent the numbers from the rabies tag. The finder texted, "we went through that process already (rabies tag research) and we found nothing, but maybe you will have better luck." We did have better luck. The next morning, I was able to get owner information on this tag, and contacted Diamond's owner Willie Mae. Willie Mae told me she is wheelchair bound, and her granddaughter was caring for Diamond. She had Diamond in the car and was on her way from Indiana to visit her when they stopped, and she took off. I exchanged information between owner and finder, and Willie Mae got in touch with her granddaughter to let her know, since she is unable to drive and her granddaughter has a car. Willie Mae called me yesterday after a few days passed, to let me know Diamond still was not home. She wanted her back. She said her granddaughter told her that the finder was busy working, and wasn't able to get her back to them yet. The finder also let me know she works a lot, but that finally would be able to meet today to return Diamond to them. I was so glad to hear from both the finder and owner today letting me know she is home. Willie Mae is very grateful and said, "bless you and thank you for the work that you do." Thank you finder for doing the right thing, Susan D. for tagging Microchip Hunters, and thank you to all who helped! Diamond is this woman's best friend. Welcome home Diamond! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Microchip Help Two unregistered microchips, and three families later...
Chico was found in #OakLawn #IL on September 10th. The finder posted on some neighborhood pages, and also here on Lost Dogs Illinois. She also sent this to us at microchip help so that our microchip hunters could help her see if there was an owner looking for this sweet boy. Juliana sent the microchip number, and it was an unregistered Petkey microchip. I spent a week leaving messages and texts, after finding relatives to try, because the information from the implant facility was no longer valid. It was from 2011. I truly gave up, but deep down I knew I must have reached someone that knows something. I let Juliana know and she told me she was going to keep flyers out and give it some more time. Yesterday, I received a facebook message. It was a relative of the registered owner. She contacted the owner, and then let me know that this cutie was given to a pet store in the area to rehome. They tried to find information but couldn't. Juliana felt better knowing we heard back, and she and her family had fallen in love with this boy. Juliana took this found dog to the vet yesterday, after hearing the news, and SURPRISE! There was a second microchip!!! She texted me right away, and I discovered this second chip was also unregistered! UGH!!! I called PAWS Chicago this morning, and was able to get owner information for Chico; it was from 2015 so after the first owner. I left a voicemail and text, and also found the father and spoke with him. I heard back from Jennifer late afternoon. Jennifer told me that Chico got out, as he does often, but that usually a neighbor will find him and bring him home. This time he didn't make it back and they were very worried. They checked with the shelters but hadn't heard anything that he was found. She was very happy to receive my call, and relieved someone was caring for him. I told her that Juliana loves him. I gave the finder Jennifer's number and she called her right away. I received a text shortly after, from both Jennifer and Juliana. Jennifer told her husband that Chico was found and that the family loves him. They felt it was best for Chico to stay there, and officially become a part of their family. Juliana and her family are estatic. Two unregistered microchips, and three families later, Chico is now in his forever home. Jennifer said, "I know he’s in good hands." Welcome home Chico, 3rd times a charm! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Microchip Help An amazing Bulldog came in as a stray to Chicago Animal Care and Control on 9/22. She had a microchip with a disconnected phone number so this case was sent to microchiphelp.com for help yesterday. We all knew she had to be someone's beloved pet.
I found some information on the owner that looked like a match, and started making some calls. I left a couple voicemails, and Luis called me back not to long after. He wasn't aware that his dog was missing, and said, "Yes, I have a Bulldog, she is brown and white. My brother is watching her for me in Chicago." I told him her name is Maruca, and he confirmed it was her! Luis called his brother right away. He called me back and let me know his brother would be over there to pick her up right away! Luis emailed CACC to let them know, and Maruca is now back with her family! Thank goodness this was sent to microchip help; this 6 year old girl would have been adopted in a heartbeart! She didn't need a new home, she just needed to go home. Welcome home Maruca; found 9/22/2019; Reunited 9/25/2019. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Microchip Help Chicago Animal Care and Control sent a case to microchip help today. It wasn't exactly a dead end chip, but a senior dog with a name tag and address; no phone number. Microchip Hunters pulled up the name that belonged to the address, and was able to find a phone number to reach the family. The owners weren't able to pick him up right away, but asked if their daughter could please pick Achilles up! We gave them the information to let CACC know who was coming, and this senior boy was able to go home! We didn't want him to wait there any longer than he needed! "He is 17 years old!! We got him when he was 2 weeks old and I fed him with a bottle. He is the same age as 2 of our grandchildren." We are so thankful Achilles is home! He is just precious! His owners said, "He is really such a GOOD dog!" Welcome home old boy! You are loved!!! Thanks CACC for letting us help get him home so fast! She let us know how much he means to his family. This case was a roller coaster with many ups and downs, but Lou Malnati is finally home, after 23 days at CACC!!!
