A little black cat made his way to Chicago Animal Care and Control on 10/15/2019. The information was sent to microchip hunters because he had an Avid microchip that wasn't registered, and they weren't having success getting owner information from the vet supply that sold the microchip.
The vet supply got back to me; they sold this microchip to Fox College Vet Tech Institute in 2014. I wasn't sure I was going to get anywhere with this, but called and left a voicemail with an account manager there. Luckily, the next morning, she called me back and let me know that PAWS Chicago facilitated this adoption! I called Paws and they gave me the owner information for Midnight, from 2014. I was hoping that would be it! But of course, my research wasn't done. The phone number for Carla was disconnected. Many numbers and emails later, I got an answer. The gentleman on the phone was her father who was at work. He told me he would give Carla my information. He wasn't sure her cat was missing. Carla called me this afternoon. When I told her where midnight was, the tears started. She could not believe how far Midnight was, and had no idea how he got to CACC. She told me she was going to get there to pick him up today, and she did! She said, "Thank you so much, I'm relieved that he is safe." I gave Carla the microchip information and she told me she was going to register tonight. She told me, "Midnight has always been curious about the outside world. I am glad this nugget is safe though." He was found 13 minutes from home!!! Found 10/15/2019; Reunited 10/17/19 Welcome home Midnight. You brought tears to my eyes today too! ***Photo of midnight back home tonight*** Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Microchip Help
