Chase was found and brought to Chicago Animal Care and Control, and the information was sent to us at Microchip Help: "We have a stray with a microchip, owner's phone number is disconnected. I did reach out via email as well." I spoke with Maria, after finding a working phone number, and she told me her family had rehomed Chase due to family circumstances. Thankfully, these circumstances have changed, and they are able to welcome Chase back home, because the new owner didn't want him back! Maria's husband went to pick Chase up, and he is now back home with them! Welcome home Chase! You are a lucky boy! Your family is happy to have you back home! ~Jeanette Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters

This is one microchip hunter case that especially touched me. What a sweet family with huge hearts! I contacted Yvonne, when Chicago Animal Care and Control sent us a microchip case that had two disconnected phone numbers registered to it. Yvonne is the daughter of Richard and Mary, who both passed away just over a year ago, and when I called and told her we have cat with a microchip, she finished my sentence. "Oh my God, registered to Richard and Mary?!!! . You found one of my dad's cats? My parents "fixed" close to 100 feral cats over 30 years in Chicago, and fed as many as showed up." Yvonne told me 'Bob' took over feeding these cats when her parents had passed, and asked if I could call him to see if he would want to pick her up. Bob lives in Chicago and Yvonne lives around 3 hours away! Bob didn't want to pick "Bijin" up, but Yvonne felt she had to come get her. "You found her 1 Year and 4 days after Dad passed." So...she and her family made the trip to Chicago to get this sweetheart! This cat’s left ear is tipped which Paws did for feral cats that they altered. "She is doing great! She's a brave, lovable cat. Very friendly and loved a can of Fancy Feast (which my Dad fed those feral cats every night). All of my animals are pound puppies and the smelled the pound off of her. They're getting along well and my boys and husband really like her. Thank you for contacting me about her." Bijin was the name her parents gave her, but they have not named her yet; her boys said "she has to earn her name." "We all said both parents are pleased! Both parents really enjoyed those cats!" Yvonne's dogs "stayed by her parents side until the end - the big Anatolian really loves elderly people and has an odd connection with this cat. Won't leave its side in a very kind way." I feel this dog knows just how special this cat was to Yvonne's parents too. I am so happy this cat means so much to Yvonne and her family. She went from the Chicago streets, to a beautiful farm and sweet sweet family. Yvonne’s parents were truly amazing. ***Photos above of Yvonne, her parents, her pets, her family, her farm, and of course, 'Bijin'*** ~Jeanette Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Home Again gave Chicago Animal Care and Control the owner information for an adorable 10 year old Yorkie, but both numbers were a dead end. I did my research, and was able to find a working number for her owner, Ashunda! I left a message for her, and she called me right back! She began crying and said "I am going to go there right now!" Ashunda told me she would let me know when she was home, and send me a reunion picture! Diva was missing exactly one week. Surprised that I didn't hear back from her by late evening, I checked CACC's page. Diva was still there. I sent a text to Ashunda, and she told me she did make it to CACC, but that poor Diva was hit by a car and had a broken pelvis. Everything else seemed OK. She needed to stay overnight, but she would be able to pick her up the next evening. She was so sad to leave her; it broke her heart. Diva went home on Saturday, and I heard from Ashunda, this morning. "Good morning, I have had my hands full. But I wouldn't trade this for ANYTHING! I am so happy to have her home, she means the world to us. Thanks again for locating our Diva. She is so strong she keeps on doing things as normal. I have to keep sitting her down." Diva's recovery will be at least 8 weeks - please keep her in your thoughts. Welcome home Diva, you have the best care! ~Jeanette Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Chicago Animal Care and Control submitted a name and address to us at Microchip Hunters for a Chihuahua they implanted a chip to, that came in as a stray. The microchip wasn't registered with Avid. After researching Mona's name and address, it didn't look like there would be much to try, other than the phone numbers that were listed. There wasn't a whole lot of other information to go by, but Susan E., took the case and got a hold of Mona with a call to the 3rd phone number on the list!!! Susan E. was so happy this was an "easy" one. The owner was even happier, and sent her sister to pick Chi Chi up right away because she was at work. Mona sent this beautiful picture of Chi Chi back home with her happy family! Welcome home Chi Chi!!! ~Jeanette Microchip Hunters Lost Dogs Illinois Home at last! Mix from #Chicago #IL - his name is Louie! - is home safe & sound. Message: "Louie was reunited with his owner after Susan E. from Microchip Help was able to get in contact with one of his previous owners. Louie went missing on April 8th and was found in freezing rain on April 10th. He was just reunited with his owner, one week after he went missing!" Missing 04/10/2019. Reunited 04/15/2019. Welcome home! **Found picture and Reunion picture**
Bobby has an Avid microchip that the owner registered through PetKey. Chicago Animal Care and Control needed help from Microchip Hunters to find his family.
Petkey provided me the owner information, and I was sure it would be difficult to find the owner because it came up with a Round Lake Beach address. This is a long way from Chicago Animal Care and Control. I was able to reach the owner, Omar, by text in Engish and Spanish, through google translate. Good thing, because Omar spoke only Spanish. Through google translate, Omar told me: "We went to visit my cousin at his house and we did not realize when he left the garden and we looked for him and we did not find him." He does live in Round Lake Beach, but his cousin lives in Chicago. Omar asked how much it would cost to reclaim Bobby, and told me he didn't have enough money right now to pay for his cousin to pick Bobby up for him, so Lost Dogs Illinois helped with the redemption fee. Omar sent all the paperwork to CACC by email so that his cousin could pick him up. He didn't want him to stay overnight another night at CACC, and neither did we. Bobby is with Omar's cousin and will be back home to him soon. He is very very happy to know Bobby is ok and with family. Welcome home soon Bobby! ~Jeanette Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters une (Esmerelda) was found as a stray in October 2018. June was VERY skinny at the time she started showing up at the good samaritan’s house. Finally the good samaritan named Alice was able to gain June’s trust and was able to take her to the vet to get her up to date on her shots! The vet scanned for a microchip and they found one! Alice then sent in a Microchiphelp.com form for our microchip hunters to take the case! I took the case late at night and sent out an email and messaged a couple of numbers! I woke up the next morning with a text from Amanda. I explained to her who I was and what I do. I then mentioned a cat to her and sent her a picture and she replied with “Yes this is my cat she escaped from our front door 6-7 months ago!!” I let her know the cat was safe and sound with the finder. I had a free moment in school so I asked the teacher if I could go into the hall and make a phone call to Alice! I proceeded to let her know the circumstances of June and how long she was outside for and I also gave Alice the owner’s phone number! Alice ended up calling Amanda and they talked about June! I was sitting in class at the time when Amanda messaged me saying Alice called her! I waited until I got home to text Amanda and asked her if she ended up making arrangements to meet Alice and get her June back home! She told me that she was talking to Alice and her 6 year old daughter fell in love with June. Later that night Amanda texted me saying “I just brought my baby home!!!” Microchips bring TRUE miracles! NEVER think any pet is being mistreated! NOT all strays are homeless!
Below is the photo of June back home in bed with her mama! ~Jacob Microchip Hunter This adorable Black Shih Tzu had an Avid microchip that was unregistered, but came up as sold to a rescue in Moline, IL. The rescue had no owner name, but an owner address and disconnected phone number. Chicago Animal Care and Control(CACC) sent this to MicrochipHunters.
I found several names connected to the address on file, started making calls, and found the owner Sonia. She lives in Moline, but 3 years ago had given Lilly to her niece Stephanie that lives in Chicago, because she could no longer keep her. Sonia sent all the required information to CACC to let Stephanie pick her up. The rescue, however, told CACC they would not allow Sonia or her niece to pick her up, and instead, will be picking Lilly up because the owner breached her contract by giving to the dog to a new owner. I let both owners know what was going on. They contacted the rescue the where Lilly was adopted the next morning, and spoke to the owner of the rescue. The rescue understood the situation, and thankfully they allowed this transfer of ownership so that Lilly could go back to her family of 3 years. Stephanie told me that Sonia gave Lilly to them, so that when they go to Moline to visit family, she gets to see her. We are so happy this had a happy ending. Lilly's microchip is now also registered to Stephanie at www.foundanimals.org - she and her family are very grateful to have her back. She is one loved little girl... ~Jeanette Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Coco's microchip brings him home after 15 months!
This morning, Chicago Animal Care and Controlasked #MicrochipHunters for help contacting an owner of a white Shih Tzu that Avid had flagged as reported missing over a year ago, on January 31, 2018. Both phone numbers had full mailboxes so they were unable to leave a message. I sent texts to the numbers, and also messaged a couple email addresses I found. I received a text back not to soon after, and it made my day! Catalina still had a current phone number for Coco's microchip and the first thing she asked was, "where is he right now?" She said they have been looking for him, but never found him! I was so happy to be able to give her this news, and she asked if she could pick him up today! They had Coco for 9 years, and missed him terribly! Coco is home nearly 15 months later! Here is his photo from CACC, and his after photo now at home. What a happy day for Catalina, Coco and the family! Missing 1/31/2018; Reunited 4/8/2019. Welcome home sweet boy! ~Jeanette Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters 24 Petwatch gave me owner information for this adorable Chihuahua named Stella, after Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) hit a dead end phone number and sent this to us at Microchip Help. Jacob, Microchip Hunter volunteer, took the case, and was able to find the son of the registered owner. This son explained that his mother is in nursing care, and that his brother Tom owns Stella now. He gave Jacob the phone number to contact his brother Tom. Jacob spoke with Tom, the son that took in Stella, and he was delighted to hear his Stella was safe, but was unable to get to CACC and unable to pay to reclaim his little girl. He is going through a tough time. He said CACC was 88 blocks from home and he currently had no working transportation. Jacob let me know what was going on. I contacted CACC and let them know Tom needed help getting Stella back to him, and that Lost Dogs Illinois was able to pay the reclaim fee for Stella. CACC let me know they would also help transport her home; and Stella is now back home with her owner who loves her so very much. Thank you Jacob for working this case and finding Stella's owner, thank you CACC for delivering Stella back to Tom, and thank you to everyone that donates to Lost Dogs Illinois so we can help with reclaim fees when families need it. We all need a little help sometime. Welcome home Stella!
