 This little girl was dropped of at Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) on Friday, August 23rd as a stray. She had an AKC microchip. Some breeders put a privacy hold on their information, so if the microchip doesn't get registered by the owner, the microchip company isn't allowed to give out the breeder information (implanter) to anyone calling in. Sally's microchip was one of these cases, and Chicago Animal Control sent this to microchip hunters for help.
I called AKC Sunday morning, and gave them the microchip number. I was told the same thing...we can't give the breeder information out, BUT they told me they will try to contact the breeder and let them know to call me if they have information on who they adopted the dog to. Monday morning, I got a call from Aly, the breeder! She had all the information for Sally's owner, Shernice. I spoke with Shernice and she told me she would be going to get Sally right after work, and she did!! Sally, however, had to stay one more day so she could be spayed, but is now home! We are so glad CACC sent this to us, that AKC reached out to the breeder, and that the breeder had all the information we needed to get Sally back to her family. Welcome home Sally!  This beautiful boy was found in #Chicago #IL on 8/21/2019. The finder, Jesse did all the right things to get him home! He took this sweetheart to a vet to get scanned for a microchip, and was told it was a dead-end, unregistered chip. After posting on a neighborhood page, Jesse was suggested to register with Lost Dogs Illinois and to submit the microchip information to us at microchip hunters! I checked the microchip information, and found that the microchip was implanted in Miami and was able to get the owner information from the Miami-Dade County Animal Services. I left voicemails and texts in English and in Spanish, and looked up the address! I asked another Lost Dogs Illinois volunteer, Ray, to help post flyers near his address because she lived nearby. I also asked another volunteer, Mayra, to leave a message in Spanish for me on the voicemail just in case! I kept trying to find any way to contact Juan! After 4 days, I was shocked to hear from Juan! He spoke perfect English. He had gotten a new phone, and finally was able to listen to my messages on his non-working phone! He has a new phone number and address. Juan said, "I heard you found my dog! Someone left the door open and he got out! We were so worried about him!" He was happy to hear that he was with a finder, and Jesse the finder contacted him right away! Jesse said, "our pup and us are sad to say goodbye to such a sweet boy, but he was over the moon when he saw his dad." Thank you so much for taking care of Shadow Jesse, and all you did to get him back to his family. Juan called me to let me know how happy Shadow and he are, and to say thanks. After getting owner information, I called the phone number for Guadalupe but it was a landline and there was no answer, so an email was sent. In the meantime, I found a phone number for Guadalupe's sister Diana, and she called back right away. She told me her father was watching Princess, and that Guadalupe was in Mexico for a couple more weeks. I spoke with the father, and he said he didn't tell his daughters that Princess got out of the yard, because he knew how upset they would be. He was very happy to get this call that she was found, but needed some help with the fees, so Lost Dogs Illinois was able to help pay the reclaim fee. I let the family know what was needed for CACC to release Princess to the father. I received an email today from Guadalupe, all the way from Mexico, "Thank you for your help. Princess is now home." The microchip information was sent to Microchip Hunters Illinois. The chip was not registered, but thankfully the implanter was Chicago Animal Care and Control and they were able to provide the owner information so we can get him home! I called the owner, Manuela and gave her the wonderful news that Cookie was with a good samaritan and that they will call her later in the day! Cookie went home today - he and his family are very happy, especially Manuela's sisters! They thought they wouldn't get him back. She had one microchip registered with two companies, but the older one was an owner transfer with no new information. Her current owner had a voicemail with a message in Chinese... By texting a photo and a message in English and Chinese using google translate, the owner was able to call me back. His English wasn't too bad and we were able to communicate, but I texted the address to him with all the information he needed to pick Delilah up. I could hear the concern in his voice, and he wanted to know if she was ok. He said she was missing for two days. Delilah was picked up and is back home! Her owner Cheng is so happy and thankful for the help finding her. Thank you Jim H. for making sure she was safe and went to CACC to get home! Microchip Hunter Katie C. was able to find a working phone number and the owner went to pick Daisy up immediately! Found 8/11/2019; Reunited 8/12/2019. Welcome home Daisy; you are loved!  Microchip Hunters received this case from Chicago Animal Care and Control "Stray dog with an old chip that was implanted by CACC; adopted in 2009 and phone number is disconnected." After trying several disconnected numbers, I was able to reach Artaisha! She said she is in Atlanta and her son was watching Ava! "The family had been looking for her and missed her so much!" She told me she would be home the next day and over to pick her Ava up that afternoon! Artaisha is very happy to have Ava home, and sent a picture of her back home after her grooming!!! Welcome home Ava, we knew you needed to go home!!! ~Jeanette Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters  It was Sunday morning and Jeanette’s post about a case we received from microchip hunters popped up for Blacky nearing the end of his stray hold at Chicago Animal Care and Control, so I figured I could see what I could do. Blacky wasn’t chipped but he was wearing a tag with his name, phone number and address. The phone number was disconnected and when I researched it I couldn’t find a match between the number and address so I focused on the address which was in a western suburb. I spoke with the owner of the property who put me in contact with the current resident who said Blacky wasn’t their dog and that they’d lived at that address for over six years. He thought the previous residents still lived close by, but he didn’t know their names.
Seeing that the address was a dead-end I then focused on the phone number and sent messages out to six possible numbers mentioning Blacky and asking for information on how to contact Juanita. And I got a response!!! “Yes, can you tell me where he’s at? Is he ok? Can I come get him?” I called Orlando and explained to him that Blacky was at CACC. Orlando kept asking me how long had Blacky been there? I kept telling him about 2-3 days. He asked me over and over, how long has he been there??? Finally he explained that Blacky had been missing for over 3 years. He said that his sister had been in town with Blacky after the death of a close family member and somehow Blacky had gotten out of the house they were all staying at. That, while grieving over their recent loss of their family member, they were suddenly and frantically searching the streets for Blacky – but they never found him. And now …. Orlando wanted to rush down to claim Blacky right away so that he could surprise his sister! I told Orlando that I would make sure CACC had his contact info and I passed his number along to Jeanette, who called him to be sure he knew what was needed to get Blacky picked up! Jeanette then heard back from the owner, Angelica, who couldn't stop crying on the phone. She still lives in the western suburbs but happened to be visiting family yesterday. She and Orlando went to get Blacky right away, and her boys are so happy to have their little dog back home. They all love him so much! This family is been through tough times, and having Blacky back means the world to them. Angelica also told Jeanette he looks ok healthwise and is chubby! She found her way to Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) with a HomeAgain microchip registered to her owners through Free Pet Registry. CACC wasn't having any luck with these phone numbers, so they asked Microchip Hunters for help.
After getting the owner information from Free Pet Registry, I also asked for an email, which they didhave on record, for an alternate contact. I sent an email to this owner, with my phone number, and asked that she call me and let me know if they were looking for their dog Bibi. I posted this case to be worked on by our microchip hunter group. Microchip Hunter Katie C. took this case, and left voicemails, texts and emails as well from researching the names on the registration! A couple days later, I received a call from a number I didn't recognize, but there was no message. When I researched this number, it matched the alternate contacts name! I was hopeful, and let Katie know! I tried to call back several times, as did Katie, but no answer, just a voicemail. No replies to the texts either. When three more days had passed, and we were just giving up hope, I received the call we hoped for! It was Michelle, and she said they were out of the country, and had someone watching Bibi! She had received my email, and tried to contact me but it wasn't going through. She was very happy Bibi was still there, and I let CACC know right away. They placed a hold on Bibi for her family, and Michelle went to pick Bibi up today!!! Bibi's family is very thankful she is back home! Found 7/31/2019; Reunited 8/7/2019 Welcome home beautiful girl! ***Happy back home photo*** ~Jeanette Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters  Susan, the good samaritan that found Bella near 63rd on the South Side of Chicago over two weeks ago, took her all over the neighborhood, and had her scanned for a microchip. The phone number the police received was disconnected. She was given the address too, but nobody in the area knew this dog.
After a couple of days searching lost dog posts, Susan knew she had to take this cutie somewhere, as she was leaving for out of town. She knew the staff at the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana, and decided she was most comfortable leaving her there. So...Bella traveled 45 minutes by car and was dropped off there. Two weeks later, Susan heard about microchip hunters, and submitted the microchip information for help. The chip was unregistered and I contacted Animal Welfare League and received the owner information that Susan received. I got to work right away searching for working phone numbers for the owner, Teona. (AWL had her listed as Tina). I was so happy when I finally made contact with her, and she told me she had posted Bella on many sites and that she has been looking for her for over 2 weeks. I called and let Susan know right away and she gave me the contact name and number for the Humane Society. This was later afternoon on Monday, and unfortunately the HS was closed on Tuesday. Maryann from the HS called me early Wednesday morning and we discussed the fees. She was thankful we found the owner too. Teona was there at 11 when they opened on Wednesday to get her baby girl. Thank you soooo much to the Humane Society of Northwest Indiana for having compassion, holding on to Bella, and to cutting her boarding fees to less than half so that she could afford to get her home quickly!!! You are wonderful! Thank you Susan for all you did to get Bella home, for helping keep her safe and contacting microchip hunters.
