Jackson County Animal Control in Wisconsin took in this little, well cared for dog, and she was microchipped to two people. Both of the phone numbers and addresses were outdated and addresses were a few hours from the facility.
Microchip Hunters were tagged on the post several times and reached out to the Jackson County by phone. They provided the microchip information. Microchip Hunters researched, sent emails, texts, and Facebook messages to anyone they could find connected to these two. Facebook profiles showed the two as 'friends.' After scouring one of their Facebook pages, a business was listed, so a message was left there, and a text too! That evening, the son messaged me and said his father never had a dog, but said he would reach out to him. I mentioned the second name on the chip, and she said that was his father's good friend. I thanked him and sent a photo. "OMG, I think that is Peanut." He said he would have them call. I heard from the father's good friend from the microchip. She called me sobbing and told me her story. She had Peanut for 8 years. This call meant everything to her, it had been years since she had seen Peanut and sent me multiple photos starting from her puppy years. (more of the story on her flyer below) "It's really been such a lovely experience. First you found me then we've worked it out and knew I had to go get her as soon as possible. I needed money I don't get paid till next Friday; a friend just instantly says 'will $200 be enough?' Then I wondered how I'm going to get there it's over 2 hours away and I was talking to another friend here at my building and he said he would drive me and wouldn't even charge me anything. Then one of the things I had to get was a paid receipt for a rabies vaccination in the future. because it's the law. We went to the vet and at first they said they wouldn't give me the receipt ahead of time, but my friend who drove us has two dogs and he spends a lot of money at this vet and pushed the envelope with them until they called the shelter and asked what they needed and I was able to get it. We are so thankful to you Jeanette!" What a wonderful group of people helping Peanut's family get her home!!! Thank you all!!! Microchips are so important, and is the only reason that Peanut got back to her. We will help ensure the microchip is registered correctly, and an ID tag was sent! Welcome home Peanut! Chicago Animal Care and Control picked up this dog. She had an injured leg and was found by the Metra tracks in Chicago. A microchip was found, but the phone number wasn't working. Information was from Ohio! Microchip Hunters was sent the chip information!
Microchip Hunter volunteer Roseanne made a call and reached the owner on file. He contacted his ex girlfriend who had taken Pixy with her. She told him she wasn't going to reclaim her, so he made a trip from Ohio to pick her up the next day! Lost Dogs Illinois was asked if they could help with the reclaim fee, and of course we did! Welcome home Pixy, we are so glad your dad came for you so quickly. You are loved!!! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com These two dogs were found in Indianapolis, and only the older dog had a microchip. It was registered, but to someone in Oklahoma! There was an outdated phone number, and no email address associated to this family!
Thank you to fans who tagged Microchip Hunters and to the finder Victoria for following through and sending the chip information after being messaged!!! Microchip Hunters was able to find a current email, and received this reply: "Yes I have been looking all day since I got off work the other dog is a black Great Dane puppy! Thank you so much for reaching out to me. Felt like my heart was in my stomach." Once reunited, I provided the microchip information to the owner and helped make sure it was updated properly, and ID tags are also ordered for their collars! He didn't have Ghost's chip number so didn't know where to update! Tux and Ghost are both home, thank you Victoria!!! "Thank you so much Jeanette I can't even express how thankful I am you were able to help me locate them!!" Welcome home!!! You are loved! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Thank you Jane for reaching out to Microchip Hunters today to help reach an owner. Griffith Indiana Animal Control left a message for the family but they didn't hear back from them.
Microchip Hunters looked up the microchip, called the number on file, and the owner answered. She told me that Bo went missing Friday and she was devastated. I told her that Bo was found and taken to Griffith Indiana. She was so surprised and asked me how he got all the way over there! They live on the South Side of Chicago! Bo was found near Menards on Cline, near Gary Indiana. The family also told me that she typically doesn't answer calls she doesn't recognize, but that there was no name showing so she happened to pick up! Fortunately, her son was able to take her to reclaim Bo! We are so glad Griffith Animal Control asked for help! We are told this was a wonderful reunion with very nice people! Welcome home Bo!!! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com This cat was found, and a family that was missing their cat thought he was theirs after they received a call that someone found their cat. A few days later, someone actually DID find their cat, and they were called because of the microchip!
So... the family had "Curious George" scanned and reached out to Microchip Hunters for help getting this found cat home! The microchip was never registered, but I contacted the rescue and was given the owner information. The rescue assured me that they would take the cat back if the owner couldn't keep him. Our newest volunteer, Dianne, took this case, and found the family on Facebook (phone number wasn't current). She said her ex kept the cat but found out he wasn't keeping him inside at all, and really didn't want him...BUT she did! She drove 45 minutes to Grand Rapids to pick him up! She hasn't seen the cat for 2 years and was excited to have him back!!! From the finder 'So happy for this ending for this cat, and so glad you were able to reunite!!!' Welcome back home George! You are loved!!! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters worked on reaching his family when the phone number on the microchip was not current, and heard back through Facebook! Chase went missing from the family's yard and had been missing a week. He is loved, and it was suggested to the family that they request help from CRISP when picking him up from Chicago Animal Care and Control, as he has some medical issues that may require some treatment or surgery. Chase went home, and he is now neutered! They are glad he is back! Welcome home Chase, you are loved! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Help www.microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters newest volunteer, Anna, spoke to Jose's daughter, after she reached an uncle who relayed the message! The phone number registered on the microchip did not belong to Jose any longer, so Chicago Animal Control had sent this to Microchip Hunters for help! Turned out they were looking for Nanook and went the same day to pick him up!
