"Last week, a volunteer with Delco Dawgs was able to trap a small stray dog that had eluded them for months and brought her to us! The small black dog, now known as Ellie, was scared, anxious, and had heartworms. She had a microchip which we thought would help us find her owners, but unfortunately, it was unregistered. That is when we turned to Microchip Help for help tracking down the original owners of the microchip. After several hours of calls, they matched the Microchip to Main Line Animal Rescue and Ellie was officially “found!” She had gone missing from her owner, after being adopted, on April 17th, 2022. Since then she had been fending for herself without heartworm medication. She had been transported from Louisiana as part of a Heartworm grant. After several sightings throughout the year and a half, they had almost given up hope she was still alive.
On Wednesday, September 27th, we were able to reunite Ellie with the Site Director, Nichola Redmond, and Volunteer, Denise, of Main Line Animal Rescue! She will go back to their rescue where she will receive her much-needed heartworm treatment! We are so grateful that several animal welfare organizations were able to come together to save the life of sweet Ellie!"

Microchip Hunters was able to reach Bambi's family to let them know he was at Chicago Animal Care and Control. CACC wasn't able to reach the family and wanted to be sure 14 year old Bambi got home quickly. Microchip Hunter Amy W. found a working number for the sister, and they sent someone to pick him up!
Welcome home Bambi!!! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Thank you to all who posted about this little dog roaming for two weeks, and to all that helped keep her fed and safe. Special thanks to Tati Marie for your help getting her and taking her to the 25th district police station for a family to find her.
Microchip Hunters (Lost Dogs Illinois) reached out to the station and received the microchip number. It was unregistered, but Paws Chicago was able to provide owner information. Thank you! Sadly, Microchip Hunters, through research, found that the owner had passed away recently, so started reaching out to relatives as the number on file from 2015 was not current. It was found that the daughter rehomed Bonita, and didn't know she was missing. She can't keep her in the apartment she is in, but has another friend that would love to have her, so she is on her way to pick Bonita up! She never heard from the people she had given her to. Bonita will be happy to see her, she has not been very happy these last couple of weeks and is very scared. We are told she was a nice and calm dog... We are glad to hear that she will be going to a friend who she knows well. Thank you again to the community for caring about these animals and doing something to help!!! You are very appreciated!!! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Chicago Animal Care and Control sent this registered microchip information over to Microchip Hunters when the phone number was not in service. The registration was from another state!
Microchip Hunters was having trouble finding background information for this family, so decided to call the facility that microchipped this dog, in case they had additional information. They did, and the number was good! Niño's family answered the phone, and only spoke Spanish. I used what little Spanish I knew to explain the call, and suddenly heard tears of joy and happiness in his words! That sound is universal to all languages. It brought tears to my eyes too! I told him his dog was ok, and that I would be texting him! We communicated through translate and was told that he had another 'little' dog. He was hoping she was also at CACC but she was not microchipped. Within minutes, he was in the car and heading to animal control. CACC told me another dog was with this dog when they were brought in! Niño y Niña's family signed for both dogs to be neutered and spayed and were picked up today! He told me he brought them with him from Venezuela. "I've been crying since Wednesday, you can't even imagine how much I love them." Welcome home Niño y Niña, you are loved. Back home photo below! We will be helping update Nino's microchip too! Thank you to Chicago Animal Care and Control for partnering with us to help!
In Bill's case, the microchip was registered to the previous owner, so Microchip Hunters worked to reach the family to authorize Bill to go home to his current family! He didn't have to wait for the 7 day stray hold to end! Dante went back to his family, the son was 13 years old when they got him 14 years ago! Note: Minnie and Mickey did not belong to the same family ! They are all very loved and didn't need a new home! Thank you to the Animal Protection Association of Missouri (Olivette) for sending Rocky's microchip information to Microchip Hunters!
Rocky was turned in to the APA Missouri! The owner on file with the microchip company had outdated information so they sent it to Microchip Hunters for help! Microchip Hunter Amy W. was able to reach the family on file after doing research to find current information! His family rehomed Rocky, but contacted the family she rehomed him to, and both of them went together to pick him up! Welcome home Rocky! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com The found Pit Bull, her name is Yolanda but her family calls her Yoli, from #Chicago #IL is home safe and sound! Found 2023-09-10 Reunited 2023-09-11. Welcome Yoli!
Microchip Hunters was messaged by Lost Dogs Illinois volunteer Mary Anne because the finder said this girl had an unregistered microchip. Turned out to be the case, and Microchip Hunters contacted Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) for the owner information. She was microchipped from them. The owner's phone number was outdated, but Microchip Hunters found a working number. The finder who said Yoli is so sweet, could not hold on to her and had dropped her off with CACC and the family went right away when they got the call from Microchip Hunters. They tried to pick her up before 7 pm. The doors were locked when they arrived so they went first thing today to pick her up! She was current on vaccines and spayed, so her reclaim was easy! Yolanda is loved! Microchip Hunters registered the microchip with the family! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com |
