Beca's microchip was a dead-end. Chicago Animal Control sent it to microchip hunters.
Microchip Hunters was having trouble finding any information for the owner on file, so checked into families at the same address. I was able to make contact with the family living below, and they knew that their upstairs neighbor had a little dog. Matter of fact, they said they have two little dogs and asked if the other one was also found! They went upstairs to let the family know to call me. Meanwhile, I checked petharbor, and saw another little Chihuaha that didn't have a microchip. His stray hold was up the next day. I heard from the family just after, but they didn't speak English. They put their young daughter on the phone and I let her know where their dogs were. She told me the other's dog name is Hunter, and they will get to animal control the next day. When they went to pick them up, they were told they had to be spayed and neutered, and the daughter called me to let me know. They were glad, and I was happy to hear they were there. Lost Dogs Illinois paid the fee for Beca, and the family paid the fee for Hunter to go home. They were extremely grateful. The microchip will be updated! Welcome home little ones. You are loved. Keisy went missing in Hammond Indiana and wound up at Chicago Animal Care and Control! Thankfully Chicago Animal Care and Control sent the microchip to Microchip Hunters when the phone number on the microchip wasn't current! When I texted a number that could possibly be current for the family, and sent a photo, I got a reply 'is my dog.' The daughter called me to translate, and she told me Keisy went missing from Hammond, Indiana on August 13th! They asked where they can pick her up, and went the next day! Keisy's microchip has been updated and she will be getting an ID tag for her collar! Missing 8/13/2022, Found 9/13/2022, Reunited 9/14/2022 Welcome home Keisy, you are loved! Thank goodness you were microchipped! Update your microchip information when you move! Luckily this ended well for Keisy and her family - thank you Chicago Animal Care and Control for sending this to Microchip Help! Nora's family moved to #Gilberts #IL about 4 months ago! She usually doesn't go anywhere when out, but she wandered and was found by a good samaritan! Nora had tags on her collar with her name and her phone number and also her owner's names, address and phone number. All of this, other than Nora's name, however, were not current. The Good Samaritan registered Nora here with Lost Dogs Illinois, and since I was just coming on to my shift here with LDI, and am with Microchip Hunters, I took a look at all the information before posting. I tried calling and texting several numbers hoping the numbers I found were current, and got a call back from Nora's family. The first thing they asked is, "Is she OK?" I could tell right away how much they love her, and it made me so happy to be able to let them know she was taken in and safe. They also told me that she is such a sweet girl. The family called the finder, and Nora is back at home, and a new ID tag was ordered for her collar! Thank you Michelle for helping this family get their girl home! Found 9/11/2022 Reunited 9/11/2022 How important is the microchip registration?
Ask Lola's family, who waited 99 days for this call! Lola went missing on 6/5/2022 in #Bridgeview #IL and a Good Samaritan in a blue/green minivan was thought to have picked her up. Posts and flyers were out all over the area, but no word of Lola. Lost Dogs Illinois had her posted and had reshared her post as well. The family also rented signs, still nothing! As we always stress, Lola's family contacted the microchip company and made sure to update all the contact information. Yesterday, someone found a little Yorkie in Blue Island, IL. The Blue Island Police took her in, and a Good Samaritan held her while looking for her family. She posted to Lost Dogs Illinois and had her rescanned for her microchip. She was chipped! She sent it to our LDI volunteer who is with Microchip Hunters. It was LOLA! Her microchip showed an update on 6/16/22. I left a vm and text to the owner, and he replied to my text, "that looks like our LOLA!" I had no idea it was THIS Lola until the family texted me that they had her back, and that she was missing 3 months and a few days (but who is counting). Lola's family said "the odd thing is their other dog Tigger, her buddy, was extremely excited yesterday and kept me up all night every 20 minutes wanting to go out. " Lola's family went to get her right away! "Lola recognized the minute we turned in the subdivision, she recognized our house, and after a brief check of the main floor she ran up stairs to the master bathroom to see if her couch that she sleeps on in the master bedroom is still there. I got a kick out of that. Tigger recognized her immediately." Thank you again to the Cindy S. who took Lola in and checked for her microchip. You got her back to her family! "I am just happy to get her back and I owe it to you and the Blue Island police, will be for ever grateful. The fact that her buddy new somehow that she was out and on her way I wish I could have recorded how he was acting last night as if he knew something, I believe people would be amazed at his determination and assistance to go out to search for her. I believe they have a superior sense and are able to realize things, they are really inseparable, and it took her getting lost for me to realize the bond that they have for each other." Microchip your pets, and make sure the registration is always current! Missing 6/5/2022 Reunited 9/11/2022 Welcome home LOLA! LostDogsIllinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Biscuit was found in Chicago and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control where she was scanned for her microchip. The owner's number attached to the microchip was no longer a working number, so they sent the information to Microchip Hunters.
I wasn't successful reaching the owner on file, so decided to try some family members that lived at an address with the owner. I reached the mom, who told me that Biscuit and her son lived with her for over a year, but the son moved out with her in June and they haven't kept in touch. She was very concerned about Biscuit, and said I'm sure she's confused and scared, which she was. She said "We love our granddog!" The mom asked if she could pick Biscuit up and said she really missed her! Chicago Animal Control kept Biscuit, spayed her, and the mom picked her up after the stray hold ended! Thank you Chicago Animal Care and Control! They are so happy Biscuit is back in their home and sent a video of her giving her usual hug this morning! "I'm grateful for you all I'm thankful for the person that found her too. We LOVE My grand dog. She was petrified when I came to get her poor thing. She got in a car and curled in a ball and went to sleep. She's warming back up and happy to be home." We are so happy we had the opportunity to get this girl back to a family that loves her. She didn't need a new home. She was microchipped and when the owner couldn't be reached it was sent to Microchip Hunters.
Microchip Hunters weren't able to find any information that matched the name to this address and phone number on file. The landlord from the address was reached but they didn't know this person either. More research had to be done. Finally, after make numerous calls to people matching this name (there were several in Chicago), I got a call back! The owner was looking for Venus. He took her to a work site with him and she took off from there. When I asked about the address and phone number listed, he said that isn't my information. It was his girlfriends number from a few years ago. He said he didn't know what shelter was near where she went missing, and knew she was microchipped. He will be updating the microchip to his current information. Venus was picked up and is home! Welcome home! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Thank you Will County Animal Control for letting Microchip Hunters help you reach Mango's family after not having any luck reaching them from the microchip information.
Microchip Hunters did some searching, and reached the father of the registered owner. He said they had rehomed Mango, and provided me the new family's information. I called and was so happy that they were looking for Mango. They made arrangements and went to pick him up! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Benny was picked up about 6 blocks from home. He was microchipped, and though it was never registered, Chicago Animal Control had Benny in their system from 16 years ago! The number was disconnected but Microchip Hunters found a current number for his family.
It was close to closing time when the family was reached, so Benny's family went today to pick him up! His family was surprised he was over 6 blocks from home! He has arthritis and doesn't see and hear very well, but he still traveled. Welcome home Benny, you are loved! Lost Dogs Illinois Microhip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com |
