Thank you to Miguel for finding and keeping Sheba safe in your yard, and getting her scanned for a microchip.
Her owner's contact information had an outdated phone number, and Joan, a long time fan of LDI and Microchip Hunters sent the microchip number to Microchip Help by private message for Miguel as he was working. Thank you! I was able to find a working number for the owner who told me that his dog was in Chicago with his mom. He lives and works in Rockford, so was very grateful for this call! He said, "Yes, that's my baby" and asked if we could please call his mom to pick Sheba up! Sheba's owner will be updating the phone number on the microchip! Thanks again for getting her home safely, she is loved. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com

If your dog is missing, please be proactive in the search, even if they are microchipped and registered to you properly! This sweet girl had a microchip that was missed. She went to a foster home some time after her stray hold ended. The rescue that pulled her contacted Microchip Hunters when they found a microchip! The phone numbers and email from the microchip information were not current and they wanted to make sure nobody was looking for her. I was able to reach the family, It had been months and they thought she was stolen. They won't be able to take her back, but she is in a wonderful foster home and has potential adopters! Microchips do work, but, please be proactive in the search for your missing dog, even if they are microchipped and registered to you properly! A finder may not know to take the dog to be scanned for a microchip, the microchip can be missed (they can also migrate making it harder to find), the facility/person checking the registration may not be able to find who the microchip is registered to correctly, people write the microchip number down or enter it incorrectly, etc. Mistakes happen! Making sure your dog is microchipped and properly registered to you is important, but please keep checking with police and animal control facilites and keep spreading the word to all and on social media, and get flyers out in the area! Be sure your dog wears an ID tag on the collar too!!! Good luck Maizie! You are adorable! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Thank you to Microchip Hunter Volunteer Amy W!
Amy W. was able to reach a family member through facebook when Chicago Animal Control couldn´t reach Snickerś family from the information on the microchip. They were happy, and went right away to pick him up! Welcome home Snickers! Today, Chicago Animal Care and Control sent over the microchip information to Microchip Hunters for a little Yorkie. They left a message for the family, but hadn't heard back yet. I tried the number on the microchip registration and got an answer. The owner asked if I speak Spanish, and I don't speak fluently but he did pretty well. When I mentioned Zeus being found he was so happy! He said he and his wife would be back in town this weekend, but that his son could pick Zeus up, so I told him I would text him the reclaim information for someone else to pick up their dog. When I entered his phone number to text him, I was so surprised! I had been texting with him in April of 2021 when I posted him as missing to Lost Dogs Illinois! I asked if he was missing all this time and he said, yes he was! He told me his wife has been crying she is so happy! Little Zeus went missing from #Chicago #IL on 4/12/2021. We reshared his post to Lost Dogs Illinois a couple of times and no luck. The son went to pick Zeus up, and we heard from Chicago Animal Control that Zeus was very happy to see his human brother! We missed getting a reunion video, but asked the family to send one when they get home from their family visit out of state! We wanted to share this great news in the meantime. Microchips Work! Microchips Work! Microchips Work! You never know when you will get that call that your dog was found! Missing 4/21/2021 Reunited 8/11/2022 Welcome home Zeus!!! The rest of your family will be home with you soon! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com |
