Microchip solves animal cruelty case!

​Maggie is a tiny dog with a huge heart. Two teenagers out for a walk heard her cries from a dumpster that she had been tossed into. There was a noose around her neck, with the end of the rope tied to the top rail of the dumpster. Fortunately, the level of trash was high enough to break Maggie's fall, and the teenagers rescued her before a storm rolled through that night, and before the trash was collected the next day.

The finders posted on on Lost Dogs of Texas, but nobody claimed her. Twisted Tails Animal Rescue stepped in. Maggie was unable to walk or go to the bathroom on her own. A veterinary exam showed an infection in her back. When that was treated, Maggie immediately began to improve. She is now enjoying life and has acquired a broad base of fans who covered her vet bills.

Two goals remain for Maggie: First, a forever home when she's ready. She already has several potential adopters.

Finally, Twisted Tails wants to assure justice for Maggie. Animal cruelty is now a felony in Texas, punishable with fines and even imprisonment. Maggie's microchip provided an important clue: Microchip Hunters traced it to an adoptive owner who reported Maggie had died the same time Maggie was found in the dumpster.

The investigation is on-going. Her microchip may provide rescuers with the story Maggie can't tell for herself. Happily, her story continues with snuggles and lots of love.
