Lost Dogs Illinois and its supporters helped keep this family together today
Fluffy wound up at Kane County Animal Control - his microchip was registered to two chip companies, and had 2 phone numbers and addresses. Neither phone number was current, so they sent this to Microchip Hunters (MH) for help! MH volunteer Stephanie was having no luck connecting, so as a last resort she contacted the next door neighbor who recognized Fluffy right away. He went over to talk to the family and let them know where Fluffy was. The owner only spoke Spanish, so Stephanie didn't actually talk directly to him. The neighbor relayed that Fluffy's family was out of work and how things are hard for them. Thank you Stephanie! Days went by and Fluffy was still at KCAC. Today, I (MH director) received a call from Fluffy's family asking if he was still there (in Spanish). I don't speak Spanish, but used translate to help and we texted back and forth. He needed help with the fees, so let him know that Lost Dogs Illinois (with the help of supporters) would help him pay the fees. It was nearly $300 - thankfully he was neutered so there wasn't an extra charge. A couple hours later, Fluffy's family arrived at Kane County, and though payment through a third party was difficult, we managed to make it work, and Fluffy went home! "I have to tell you I'm super excited. Thanks to you, you have joined a family together. Fluffy is my life." Obstacles to reclaim dogs exist, whether it be financial, transportation, language barriers, etc. Found 3/15/2024 Reunited 3/27/2024 Welcome back to your family Fluffy, you are loved!
