"NALA WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE ME. I TOOK HER FOR A BATH AND A CHEESEBURGER."
Nala was found as a stray, and taken to Animal Care League in Oak Park. The microchip was never registered and this was a 900 series microchip that led to a dead end, so ACL sent it to Microchip Hunters! They also registered the found dog to petFBI for Lost Dogs Illinois to post as found! Thank you! Microchip Hunters did some digging and was able to determine the breeder by finding another Corso in the lot of chips. The breeder emailed back that they were moving and didn't have access to records, but would see what they could find. I let them know the chip was from end of 2020. I received an email back that they found some information. The breeder just had the name of the owner, there was no address, phone number or email on record. I did some searching online and reached out to someone with a matching name in Chicago. She didn't seem to think that I had the right number at first, but when I mentioned the breed and coloring, and sent a photo, she couldn't believe it! She and her ex had parted ways, and he took Nala with him. He ended up rehoming her, and she didn't know. She contacted her ex who reached out to the family that took her in but they could not keep her, so she reached out to ACL right away to make arrangements to pick her up! "Nala was so excited to see me. I took her for a bath and a cheeseburger." We are so glad she was able to get home to her family. Microchip and register your dogs, you never know when they will end up somewhere without you knowing! They are relying on you!!! Welcome home Nala! Nala's family made sure to register the microchip, and Microchip Hunters will be talking to the breeder to help them understand the importance of having their information show as the 'sold-to facility.'
