A day in the life of a Microchip Hunter......

Microchip Hunters posted that there was a husky at CACC whose owner couldn’t be found. We were provided an old disconnected phone number, a name (that was spelled wrong) and an address. I took the case and started digging.

We weren’t finding much for the owner -- just a couple possible phone numbers and a handful of email addresses. I left text messages and sent emails, then followed up with phone calls. But nothing.

One of the background checks that we use most often listed 19 possible relatives and 6 associates. With that many possibilities it’s hard to know where to start. I searched through the list looking for anything that seemed promising and spotted a few associates in the same age range who had also lived at that same address at one time. I sent out more texts and more emails --- 15+ texts and about that many emails.

I also sent Facebook messages to possible relatives but it was such a common name that it made it really hard to have any confidence that who I was messaging was really related to the dog’s owner.

And then I heard the “beep” of an incoming text message. “I can have him call you guys”. Awesome!!! We'd made contact! So I supplied more information about where the dog was and they responded again “He said he’s coming tomorrow”.

The next day, we saw that CACC had updated the dog’s post with her name -- “Blue”. And the day after that -- Blue had gone home with her owner!!!

...... just a normal day for a Microchip Hunter!
