 Angel took Oreo in, after he came to them in their yard. They did everything they could think of to get him home. Flyers, posting all over social media, checking with police and animal control, etc. He learned about Microchip Help and submitted the information on October 27th. Angel said, "We are big dog lovers and will always do what's best for any dog. Thanks for trying to help locate the owners. I'll be here if anything and Oreo has a bed and is warm and being fed." Truly an Angel. Microchip Hunters worked days on this with no luck. Anti Cruelty Society where he was neutered and microchipped had no additional information, and as a last resort, letters were sent to 3 addresses researched. Angel really wanted to be sure nobody was looking for Oreo if they were to keep him. Angel and his family talked it over, and decided to make Oreo part of their family on November 8th, when I received a call from Levan...he said, "I am calling about my dog Oreo." He had gotten the flyer in the mail that was sent to his relative he lives with, and that he is microchipped to. He said, "I am missing my friend." He said he drove around 12 blocks in all directions, and that he was in the yard when he disappeared. I gave Angel the information and they agreed to meet at the police station. I told Angel to ask for proof of ownership, just in case. "Oreo was very excited and happy to be reunited with his owner. I didn't need further proof than his excitement and his little cries of happiness. Thanks for helping us reunite them." Angel and his family got attached to Oreo, they said "Don't want to give him back but he isn't ours," and we are so thankful to get him home. "I hope many other cases that you do come out like this. If you ever need help with anything just let me know." Thank you again to Angel and his family for taking such good care of this sweet dog, and doing the right thing.  Kiko's microchip information contained two outdated phone numbers, but thankfully Chicago Animal Care and Control sent Microchip Hunters the information((www.microchiphelp.com) after he was brought in by a good samaritan who found him at her job running around in a trucking yard. Microchip Hunters were able to reach the owner through a Facebook message to a relative, who then contacted Kiko's owner. He was very grateful, and works longs hours so made arrangements to pick Kiko up on Saturday! He told me, "I love my dog." His housing situation has changed, so family members were helping out by taking care of Kiko. He made some other arrangements to help him with Kiko! Found 10/26/2021 Reunited 10/30/2021 Welcome home Kiko, and thank you to the good samaritan and Chicago Animal Control for helping Kiko stay with his family!  A beautiful white Lab was found in a town in Louisiana. Jennifer, the finder, took her to be scanned and the unregistered microchip backtracked to a rescue group here in Illinois. When Jennifer contacted the rescue, they couldn't find any records of this microchip in their system, so one of the rescue's volunteers (also a LDI volunteer) contacted microchip help for assistance.
First thing, the microchip was checked, and confirmed that it showed this rescue as the facility that the microchip was sold to. Since they couldn't find it in their system, I recommended getting the dog scanned again, and to include a photo of the scanner with the microchip number. So often, we see microchip numbers transposed or written down illegibly and submitted incorrectly. Sure enough, when "Luna" was rescanned the 8 turned out to be a B, and this chip did not backtrack to this rescue! It backtracked to another facility. I went back to work, and found the information for the original owner from Louisiana. When she answered the phone, she let me know that they rehomed "Haven" years ago, and she gave me the name of the organization she rehomed her to. I was happy to hear the animal services group she surrendered Haven to was local to where she was found, and contacted them! When this animal services facility provided me the information on the adopter, they gave me the first name of the owner, but it was not exactly correct! This information was in their old records. The phone number they provided belonged to this incorrect name also. When I called, I talked with a wonderful lady, that told me that she had a dog from them but this was not her dog. She confirmed her name and phone number were a match to what the facility provided me, but when I gave her the address, it didnt belong to her! Ugh... The address was researched, and the name was almost identical to hers, just a little off! She and I were relieved, and I called this other person. A gentleman answered the phone, and when I asked if he was missing a dog, he said, "Yes I am, a white Lab." Made my day. This dog was gone 5 days already and he told me, "thank you so much, I am really missing my dog." I gave the finder his number, and they were reunited later yesterday. The finder tried to get a photo, but Luna was too excited and jumped right into her family's car! Luna is home, her family didn't know she was microchipped - microchip hunters will be helping get the microchip transferred over! Jennifer also provided a collar for Luna, and Lost Dogs Illinois ordered an ID tag for her to wear in case she gets out again. We are really happy Jennifer was there to take Luna in, and her cooperation to get her rescanned. Microchips are so important; please send these kind of microchip issues to microchiphelp.com, you never know what the sequence of events will be. For Luna and her family, it made all the difference.
