Yesterday, while on my shift for Lost Dogs Illinois, this came in on our Visitor's Posts: "We were in Lake Geneva Wisconsin yesterday and found a dog on 47. He was in bad shape. He has been out there for a while. His tag says Peluchin, the number to call is 1815XXXXXXX. However it rings once and then nothing, reverse lookup says it’s from Frankfort. Does anyone recognize the name or number? He is a miniature poodle or a pup and he’s white."
I called the number and confirmed it was an invalid phone number. I sent a PM to the finder and started to work on this non-working phone number. At first glance, the number did come up to a family in Frankfort. I called and left voicemails and texts to some of the family members, and when I heard back from one of them saying they never owned a dog, I did a little deeper search, and found three families associated to this number. I sent voicemails, texts and facebook messages to family members of the second name I found. I received a call a little while later from a girl that was so happy to have heard from me! She said her mother gave her a message that someone found their dog! I also received a facebook message back from her, "Please would you let us now quickly because we are very worried of him and it’s an emergency thank you:) and we were looking for him every where and thank you soo much for letting us know" I sent a PM to the finder through Lost Dogs Illinois, and gave her the owner's phone number to call, and Peluchin was reunited last night to his family that is so grateful to everyone for getting Peluchin back home. He is loved and will be getting checked at the vet today just in case. He had gone missing on the 4th of July so was out for three days, and his family was looking everywhere for him. Thank you Maria for taking Peluchin in and sending this message to us at Lost Dogs Illinois. You saved this boy, and this family from so much heartache. A lot goes on behind the scenes at Lost Dogs Illinois. We don't just post lost and found dogs, we work to get them home...
