Blind dogs get out too!
Max's family was out of town when Max was let out in the yard with his 7 year old Golden Retriever sibling. In the blink of an eye he went missing. Max is 15 years old, and blind, so couldn't have gotten too far. Thankfully he was picked up safely and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control where he was scanned for a microchip that led to owners in Michigan, both names and numbers were outdated and led to a dead end. CACC sent this over to www.microchiphelp.com and after pulling up some background searches, Microchip Hunter Bev began attempts to reach these two owners on file. The searches still showed they resided in Michigan. After leaving voicemails, texts and emails explaining why she was reaching out to what appeared to be current numbers, a phone call from Chicago came in to Bev. Kevin received a message that Max was found, and wanted to know how to pick him up. He said Max was rehomed to him 15 years ago. Because the microchip was never transferred over to Kevin, the owners from the microchip had to email CACC authorizing him to be able to pick Max up. They called CACC but never emailed. Luckily, Kevin also found the paperwork from these original owners when he took Max in! "Thank you and Bev so much for everything you have done to help us find Max and get him home." Max is home, thank goodness! Missing 6/23/2022 Reunited 6/25/2022 Welcome home precious boy. Please be sure when you get a microchipped pet from someone to transfer the ownership on the microchip to you to avoid any trouble being able reclaim them!
