Chase was a microchip case sent to us from Chicago Animal Care and Control back in April, 2019. He was found again yesterday by a good samaritan but the phone number for the microchip was disconnected. Microchip hunters were tagged on the found post from a neighborhood page.
I thought this would be an easy one, since we worked it before, but...the registered owner wasn't easy to reach, then or now. Petkey told me the original owner, Maria, was the only one on the chip and that she had never authorized any transfer of ownerships. I let the finder know this and he said the woman he gave the dog to will give her back if the owner replies to us. Petkey was also waiting for a reply. Today, a lost post for Chase was made by a family member of the registered owner, Eva. She is Chase's owner and had proof - she asked Maria to call me. I spoke with the finder and he let the woman that took Chase know to bring him to Chicago Animal Care and Control so that Eva could pick him up there. Maria sent CACC emails authorizing Eva to pick Chase up, and she also updated the microchip in case Chase runs off. He likes to run, like Huskies do. Everyone is thankful that Chase is home.
