Microchip Hunters reached out regarding this senior boy at Chicago Animal Care and Control. He had been there four days and we were really hoping someone was looking for him.
Sugar Bear's microchip was not registered but the implant facility did have contact information. It just wasn't current! After hitting a dead-end with calling, emailing and messaging, I started reaching out to family members. I did see that he was found less than 1/4 mile from the owner's current home address. I received a text back! "Let me try to contact her. Thank you for reaching out" A few minutes later, I received a call from Tony, saying that Sugar Bear is his mom's dog, and yes, she was missing him. He passed along all the information for his mom to reclaim Sugar Bear. Yay!!! Soon after, I got another call, this time from the owner, letting me know she was having trouble emailing CACC. I gave CACC her phone number, and they were able to make arrangements for her to come get Sugar Bear the next day. Sugar Bear's owner was unable to come up with the reclaim fee, so Lost Dogs Illinois let CACC know that we would help them out, and pay the reclaim fee to get this senior boy back home. "I couldn't leave him. Thank you, you are such a gem! Many blessings to you and your loved ones!" The owner told me she updated the microchip, and I confirmed! All set Sugar Bear, just don't take off again. Found 7/25/2020 Reunited 7/30/2020 Welcome home
