Chris from #PetProfileRescue messaged microchip hunters about a dog found between Dolton and Oak Lawn. The microchip was not registered, but again
PAWS Chicago was able to provide owner information from the microchip implanted in 2011. The phone number was disconnected and I began searching the owner information - it appeared the owner of Mocha passed away over 4 years ago, so I spent some time making calls and sending texts to possible family members. So far nothing. Chris told me Tom, an experienced foster would hold on to her in the meantime. I found a name, Torrence, that had connections to a couple of the addresses. The last names didn't match, but figured I would give it a shot. I told Torrence I was calling to see if he knew anything about a little dog that was found, named Mocha, and right away he said, "I know that dog, is she a Shih Tzu?" When I told him it was, he said, "That was my grandmother's dog, but she passed away and her friend took Mocha. Let me try and reach her and have her call you." Mazette called me last night. Boy was she glad that Mocha was found safe. She had been looking for her. She said that her husband passed away, and then her friend, and that Mocha was really special to her. She goes all over the house with her, and keeps her company. She adores her, and she called Tom right away and made arrangements for Mocha's pickup this morning. I received a call shortly after Mocha went home. When I asked Mazette how she was doing, she said "I am much better now." Dogs are amazing companions, and sure are missed when they are lost. Thank you for contacting Microchip help Chris, you made someone and their dog very happy. Microchip Hunters helped get the microchip regsitered and will be sending Mocha an ID tag for her collar!
