Lucky was sent to #MicrochipHunters from Chicago Animal Care and Control because the registered owner had a disconnected phone number. After getting owner information from the rabies tag, LDI volunteer and microchip hunter, Jeanette, began researching the owner information and after several disconnected phone numbers and attempts, was able to reach the registered owner's wife. She had told Jeanette that they haven't had Lucky for a couple of years but that they would come pick him up.
Later that night, Jeanette got a phone call from the son. He asked if it would be OK for him to come pick Lucky up the next day from CACC, as the dog was his mother's dog, and she had passed away in 2016. She had Lucky since 2010. He was very excited to get Lucky back and wanted to care for him. His mom loved Lucky, and he knew how special he was to her. We are so thankful CACC had reached out to Microchip help, so that we can bring joy to this family. Welcome home Lucky!
