Microchip - Because you might not even know your dogs are missing!

These two Chihuahaus were picked up and taken to the Oswego Police Department. They were microchipped in 2013 but had outdated information.

When no owner came looking for them, they were taken to Kendall County Animal Control, this was on October 5th.

Kendall County sent the microchip information over to Microchip Hunters on October 21st, when they had no luck reaching the microchipped owners and no owners came for them.

Microchip Hunters did some research based on an address found for this owner on file, and was able to find a working phone number for the mom. The mom told me that her daughter and her ex were no longer together, and that the ex took the dogs with him. Her daughter was recently told that he rehomed them to an 'older' lady, without her even knowing. The mom told me she would have her daughter call me.

When the daughter called me, she was crying. She said she will pick them up Monday when they were open again, but was concerned about the fees. They were there for 19 days, and there are 2 of them, so the charges would add up quickly. Lost Dogs Illinois offered to assist with some of the fees, and we are very grateful that Kendall County Animal Control reduced the boarding fee portion of the bill to 7 days. With the additional charges, this was still more than the owner could afford currently, so she paid the portion she was able, and Lost Dogs Illinois paid the balance. We wanted Gracie and Buddy home with their family of 9 years. As the owner said, "all of this could have been avoided if he just told me he didn't want to keep them."

It all ended well for this family thanks to their microchips! The family never would have known they were picked up or at animal control, and would not have made it home to her. We are thankful that Kendall County Animal Control sent the microchip to Microchip Hunters, and that these two were not transferred or adopted out! We are also thankful to our generous fans, whose support allows us to help families like these with reclaim fees.

Welcome home little ones! "They were so excited when I picked them up. Thank you so much again for all of your help"
