Chicago Animal Care and Control sent the request over for assistance after all of the microchip contact information for the registered owner was out of date. We went on the search and by the 18th phone call to a relative of the registered owner, we had success! The relative was kind enough to get in touch with the owner right away and she in turn contacted me. She indicated she had rehomed Chewy about 4 months prior but absolutely didn’t want anything to happen to him and had rehomed him under the circumstances the new owners would reach out if they could no longer keep him. We’re unsure of what happened in between but are happy he is going back to where he belongs. She asked if they were opened that night, but unfortunately, I had made contact with her after 8 pm so she had to wait until the next day. I received a very happy reunion picture and she was most grateful to have Chewy back!
