This morning, I was sent a second text about a dog with a microchip that was unregistered and no owner information to be found. I texted the finder, and she told me she didn't have the chip information, that the vet didn't give it to her. She gave me the vet name, and I contacted them; they said they didn't have the information anymore.
After speaking to finder Liliana again, she told me this dog was skinny and nervous, but that she would be able to take him to the police station to be scanned. She sent me the chip number. Sure enough, it was not registered, and the only information was to a breeder out of state. I left messages, texts and even a facebook message for the daughter of the breeder, and heard back this afternoon that she wasn't able to find the information of who the dog was sold to in the system. It was from 9/2015. " I just don't know where to start. I'll try and go back to some older paper. I have a girl that came and has organized and we have a new program which is awesome but I'm thinking that was after 2017" I asked that she please let me know if something is found. I got the text I was waiting for! The breeder found the paperwork, and was able to give me the information on where this Cockalier was sold to! I found a number for this facility, and they sent me to another facility. Thankfully they communicated, and called me back with the owner name. Mason was purchased in Jan 2016. Of course, the owner's number wasn't going through. I looked up her address on file, and saw that she had moved. I decided to try facebook next, and was able to find a match but in Texas. I was getting discouraged, but sent a private message with Mason's photo, and got a call in a few minutes! "What is going on with Mason," she asked. I told her he was found, and all about the microchip chase. She told me she moved to Texas in August, and that she gave Mason to a friend in August. Her friend never told her he was missing. Ambyr told me her and her family love that dog to pieces, and that her family will go get him and get him back to her in Texas. She was shocked to learn he was in Kankakee, but her sister jumped in the car and went to pick him up right away! Mason will be going home to Ambyr, in the meantime he is home with family,. He was "super excited" to see Ambyr's family. He was definitely missing home. Ambyr will be registering Mason's microchip too. Thank you Liliana for helping get this boy home where he is loved!
