Reuniting families with their loved pets takes work, time, and teamwork...

Thanks Chicago Animal Care and Control for sending Microchip Help Max's microchip number - we love reunions like these! CACC called, but it went to voicemail and it was not set up to leave a message. The voicemail was in Spanish and the number was from 2013.
,
Max's microchip was registered and the phone number was correct, but the outgoing voicemail was in Spanish. I texted a photo to the owner, and used google translate to let her know Max was found. The owner messaged back and forth in Spanish with me, and I learned that he was missing for a very long time. I decided it was best to have our Lost Dogs Illinois Volunteer Mayra call and talk to Hilda in Spanish!

Mayra learned that Hilda had 3 dogs that went missing 7 years ago, and only 1 was found. They dug their way out of the yard, She was very happy that Max was found, and told her that she wanted to pick him up. She was hoping he would remember her!

When I heard the background, I checked on pet harbor and saw another German Shepherd a few dogs down on the page. I checked the location found, and saw it was near the same cross-streets as Max. I messaged Hilda again, using Google Translate, and sent her a photo. She said it could be Maxi if she is a female. It didn't have a gender so I emailed CACC and heard back that she was female, and that the two dogs were bonded....

Mayra sent Hilda a text for me, to make sure she checked to see if this was Maxi, and ensure she knew what to do.

I emailed CACC about having someone talk to her in Spanish, and they told me she had an appointment and would be sure someone would be able to speak to her!

What a happy reunion for this family, we couldn't be happier! How nice that they are still together!

Keep those microchips updated! You never know when you will get a call for your missing pet!
