"Something told me this wasn't a lost or dumped dog"

Microchip Hunters received a case from a good samaritan, Cheryl, that had taken in a dog that a friend found a few months ago. Cheryl had just heard about microchip help, and thought she would give us a try. The microchip wasn't registered but the vet had the owner information. It was outdated. In the meantime, however, they were unable to hold on to this beautiful Dogo Argentino as their landlord gave them a time limit.
Cheryl contacted Ray from @barkofanangeldogrescue who took this beautiful boy in. Ray knew this dog had to have an owner missing him, and sent us a message that he had the dog now. I let him know we would be working to find the owner, but that we weren't having any luck so far.
The next day, I found a number for a nephew, and he asked if the dog was a Dogo. I knew I had the right family. He told me he would call his uncle.
I received a call from Genaro. He told me his English wasn't great, but it was pretty good! He asked if I had his Manolo! I told him he was with a foster family, and that they were hoping his family was looking for him. He told me that he had 5 dogs, and wasn't able to keep them all in their small place. He has Manny's brothers, and two Rottweilers as well. He said he has now moved to a home with 2 acres, and horses and chickens, and has so much room for his dogs! He had trusted a friend to take Manny, and tried contacting him many times over the last year and a half to find out how Manny was, and he never returned his calls.
Genaro was very emotional, and couldn't wait to get Manolo back. He lives a few hours away now and picked Manny up today.
Ray sent this beautiful reunion video, and Genaro will be sending some back home photos tomorrow. Ray told me that Genaro got out of his car, and did a certain whistle. Manny knew immediately his family came for him. He ran to the door; Ray hadn't seen that kind of energy and happiness from Manny in all the days he was there. It is clear that Manny loves Genaro, and vice versa.
Manny is now on his car ride home - we couldn't be happier. We will add some photos tomorrow!!!
Thank you to Cheryl for sending this to microchip help, and to Ray and Bark of an Angel Dog Rescue for recognizing the importance of reuniting dogs to their families! Ray told me "We won't send someone's dog off if they are claimed. We are a legitimate rescue."
