Last month there was a car wreck and the family involved didn't speak very good English, they had minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. The Sheriff's Department brought their senior dog to Johnson County IL Animal Control, uninjured.
There was no contact information with the dog. No calls in regards to reclaim. ACO called hospital and was informed that police took the family and put them on a bus as their car was destroyed. They were informed dog couldn't ride on the bus. Confused, sad, and scared they left. Microchip, registration tag, and rabies tag registered to a family in Colorado. Thank God for Lost Dogs Illinois! They got us in touch with their dead end chip crew. They are amazing. Within 24 hours they got us the name, new address and phone number to the rightful owners, which were the family in the car accident. It appears they were moving from Colorado to North Carolina. We are in communication and very nice family. The owner calls and texts me often, missing their Cooper. Cooper was adopted years ago by them from the shelter and they said Cooper is the best dog in the whole world. His 6 children cry for him every night because he's not in anyone's bed to sleep. Cooper howls at night for them. The owner has stated that police are volluntering sending them their belongings from inside the vehicle, and they are very thankful for that. He said that when in the bus to NC they had no money and had to beg for food to feed their children. He said he gives great thanks for the bus tickets though or they would never gotten home. He called me a few days ago very excited. He said God is good and he got a job at a pizza shop. That he can now take better care of his family because God provides! He said he just wish he could share this celebration with Cooper. That his family is not complete without Cooper. He is unsure how long before he has a car to travel. Oh the things we take for granted!!! Thanking God for a pizza job! How many of us complain about the work we have? Johnson County IL Animal Control is waving all hold, and claim fees... zero charge! We at Howlin 4 Hope are covering cost of any vax needed, and health certificate, and would like to get a couple months of flea and Heartworm prevention if possible. We are now asking... CAN WE PLEASE BRING COOPER HOME!!!???!!! We have one person that has offered to take Cooper from here and bring all the way home to North Carolina this Saturday, but we need someone to cover her previous transport commitment for another this Saturday from Mt Vernon IL to Mattoon IL. Please take this one leg, to help Cooper get home. One of our Howlers has given a $25 gift card to travel with Cooper. We are contributing a bed, crate, toys, harness and other things for Cooper. Common Ground Animal Rescue Network has provided food, treats, and other items for Coopers trip. If anyone would like to get me items to donate for "Coopers Luggage" please get it here before Friday. Gift cards for the family would be awesome! Any special snacks treats for children, or treats or healthy care options for Cooper would be greatly appreciated! Let's get some of our magic glitter out folks! Let's BRING COOPER HOME!!! #BringingCooperHome #ThankGodForAllYouHave #FruitOfTheSpirit #FaithToReunite #MagicHowlinDownTheHighway #LoveKindnessCompassion #TheRightThingToDo
