Bertha found a sweet little Chihuahua near her home in the West Lawn area of Chicago on Sunday. He was wearing a rabies tag from Winnebago County. The phone number provided from Winnebago County to Annie, who was helping Bertha, didn't belong to a person that ever owned Leo. Microchip Help was tagged last night. I called to get owner information, and an animal control officer from Winnebago County wasn't able to find anything for me right away. I knew WCAS wasn't open until 11 am Tuesday so I reached out to Stephanie from Care for Pets, because they work with WCAS all the time, and she told me she would be in early in the morning to see if they can get me more information. Stephanie gave me the owner's name and address, in Rockford, and again the incorrect phone number, so I began doing some searching. I was able to find a new phone number, and when I mentioned Leo was found, she said thank you so much, we gave Leo to my Brother in Law that lives in Chicago. We love him so much, my 6 year old son always asks about him. She gave me his name and phone number, and I passed it along to Bertha. I then received a call from Raymundo, the owner, and he confirmed that Leo was missing and that he was going to call Bertha. His wife went right away to pick him up. Leo's family adores him; thank goodness he was in such good hands! Bertha has dogs of her own, and was happy to have him! Thank you, and thank you to Annie for helping try to find his family!
