Pepe was found as a stray, and taken to Chicago Animal Control. His microchip had a name and number, but the "phone number for the owner is no longer in service." Chicago Animal Control sent it to microchip hunters.
I found a couple of other numbers and emails for the owner Julio on file, but nothing was panning out, so I started trying to reach relatives. Julio's niece answered the phone, and was surprised at my call. She said that her uncle Julio passed away a few years ago, and that Pepe was taken in by her 84 year old grandmother who adores Pepe. She didn't know Pepe was missing, and asked that I call her aunt Elizabeth (Julio's sister) to give her details of how to reclaim Pepe for her grandmother, so I did. Elizabeth connected with Chicago Animal Control, and arranged to pick Pepe up. "He was so scared when I went to pick him up. He didn't even recognize me at first. He is very thin, but is home. We are so happy he is home, in time for Christmas" Found 12/14/2020 Reunited 12/18/2020 Welcome home Pepe. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters Microchip Help
