Cindy P. found this sweet, friendly cat in Chicago and scanned her for a microchip. She was chipped! Cindy P. called the microchip company that the chip came from, and they reached out to Cleo's owner. Cleo's owner, Maira, panicked and went to see if her cat was home, and she was!
Cindy then messaged Microchip Hunters for help with this mixed-up chip. Microchip Hunters (MH) called the chip company and reached out to this owner (Maira) again to see if this could be figured out! Maira told me (MH) when she went to pick her cat Cleo up, there was someone also picking up from the facility. This other person, Brittany, also had a cat named Cleo and they came out with the wrong cat for her. She told them that wasn't her cat, and they went back and got the correct Cleo. They thought nothing of it after that. Thankfully, Maira had the paperwork provided to her, and read me the microchip number. It was not a match to the cat found! I contacted the Microchip company again and got the owner information for this second chip number, who was also registered to a cat named Cleo in Chicago. This address was about a mile from the found location! Brittany didn't answer the phone but did reply to my text asking if she was missing a cat named Cleo. "Yes, oh my goodness!! We've been looking for her. She was missing for roughly 3 days." I explained what happened with the microchip and she said, "They did bring out the wrong Cleo when I got her spayed." Please get your animals scanned at their next vet visit (or sooner) to make sure the microchip number is correct and contact the microchip company to make sure your information is registered correctly too if you haven't done so. Accidents happen and we don't want it to prevent a happy reunion such as this! Thank you, Cindy, and Maira for your help getting Cleo home to her family! Maira and Brittany will be correcting their microchip registrations, and the facility was notified too for their records! "Thank you so much, my girls will be so happy! Thanks for doing all this work!! Much appreciated" #MicrochipHunters www.microchiphelp.com

Home at Last! The found Pekingese from #Chicago, IL is home safe and sound! Found 2024-05-17 Reunited 2024-05-17. Welcome home!
Thank you to the 17th district for holding on to 'River' or 'Oliver' and for sharing the information about his microchip and tag to Garrido Stray who in turn messaged Microchip Hunters for help finding the family. Microchip Hunters researched the unregistered chip first, which was sold to a 'breeder sale' in Missouri. The microchip company had no computer records from that time to look anything up on this breeder. The dog was wearing a tag with the dog's name and last name. Microchip Hunters spent some time using background searches to find family members with this last name that lived in this area, but nothing was very close. Regardless, some calls and messages were sent, and I received a reply from the son. He said his mom gave River away in December as she was planning to go back to the Philippines. The son was able to provide me a number for the family they rehomed him to, and "Oliver's" new family was overjoyed to get the call. He let Oliver out in their fenced yard as usual in the morning, but someone had left the gate open overnight and he got out. Oliver's family didn't have transportation, so the 17th district graciously offered to give Oliver a ride home! He is now home safe; microchip will be registered and a new tag for his collar is ordered! Welcome home, Oliver! Hope you enjoyed your day! #LostDogsIllinois #PetFBI ID# 639047 #MicrochipHunters Home at Last! Misho, the found Husky from #Chicago IL is home safe and sound! Found 04-10-2024 Reunited 04-11-2024. Welcome home Misho! **Microchip Hunters for the win! The address was very close to the found location, but the phone number on the microchip was disconnected. A few calls later, the family was found through another number obtained through name association on the email.** Anything to share with others? Don’t give up and make MULTIPLE posts & use this site the more resources the better It took a while, but King is home!
After hitting a dead end with the phone number from the microchip, Chicago Animal Care and Control submitted to Microchip Hunters for help! Microchip Hunters tried so many phone numbers and emails but had no luck for a few days. Facebook messages were left for family and friends, still nothing. Finally, a call was received. One of the friends that was messaged on Facebook gave the family the message about King! When the family called, they said King got away a couple of months ago, and that they had checked with CACC but never found him there. They were out of town and picked him up the day after they got home. From Facebook, we could see that King was a part of the family since he was a puppy, and we are just so happy that he was able to go home. He is 6 years old now. Welcome home, King, you are loved! Nala was found as a stray, and taken to Animal Care League in Oak Park. The microchip was never registered and this was a 900 series microchip that led to a dead end, so ACL sent it to Microchip Hunters! They also registered the found dog to petFBI for Lost Dogs Illinois to post as found! Thank you! Microchip Hunters did some digging and was able to determine the breeder by finding another Corso in the lot of chips. The breeder emailed back that they were moving and didn't have access to records, but would see what they could find. I let them know the chip was from end of 2020. I received an email back that they found some information. The breeder just had the name of the owner, there was no address, phone number or email on record. I did some searching online and reached out to someone with a matching name in Chicago. She didn't seem to think that I had the right number at first, but when I mentioned the breed and coloring, and sent a photo, she couldn't believe it! She and her ex had parted ways, and he took Nala with him. He ended up rehoming her, and she didn't know. She contacted her ex who reached out to the family that took her in but they could not keep her, so she reached out to ACL right away to make arrangements to pick her up! "Nala was so excited to see me. I took her for a bath and a cheeseburger." We are so glad she was able to get home to her family. Microchip and register your dogs, you never know when they will end up somewhere without you knowing! They are relying on you!!! Welcome home Nala! Nala's family made sure to register the microchip, and Microchip Hunters will be talking to the breeder to help them understand the importance of having their information show as the 'sold-to facility.' The phone number on the microchip for Red's family was disconnected.
Microchip Hunters (MH) was able to reach a daughter who told me her mom was missing Red for a couple of weeks now. She asked if the Rescue (finder) could please call her since her mom is not good with technology and doesn't text. Thank you to the finder who kept her safe and fed for the two weeks, and to the rescue for requesting help! Red is home, and she didn't need a new family, her family was missing her. Fluffy wound up at Kane County Animal Control - his microchip was registered to two chip companies, and had 2 phone numbers and addresses. Neither phone number was current, so they sent this to Microchip Hunters (MH) for help! MH volunteer Stephanie was having no luck connecting, so as a last resort she contacted the next door neighbor who recognized Fluffy right away. He went over to talk to the family and let them know where Fluffy was. The owner only spoke Spanish, so Stephanie didn't actually talk directly to him. The neighbor relayed that Fluffy's family was out of work and how things are hard for them. Thank you Stephanie! Days went by and Fluffy was still at KCAC. Today, I (MH director) received a call from Fluffy's family asking if he was still there (in Spanish). I don't speak Spanish, but used translate to help and we texted back and forth. He needed help with the fees, so let him know that Lost Dogs Illinois (with the help of supporters) would help him pay the fees. It was nearly $300 - thankfully he was neutered so there wasn't an extra charge. A couple hours later, Fluffy's family arrived at Kane County, and though payment through a third party was difficult, we managed to make it work, and Fluffy went home! "I have to tell you I'm super excited. Thanks to you, you have joined a family together. Fluffy is my life."
