Thank you Kern County Animal Services in California for sending this to dead end microchip to Microchip Hunters
"Could not find the Microchip in any database. Cat came in extremely thin, with a URI, and somewhat crumpled/cauliflower ears." Microchip Hunters went to work and was able to find the military vet this microchip came from! The owner's name and number was provided! Max had gotten out while in the care of the mom, and had been missing a few months! The mom went right away to pick him up! Get well soon Max!!! This beautiful cat was found in Kentucky, and taken to Peoria County Animal Protection Services. The microchip was not registered and the chip company had nothing on this chip, not even who they sold the chip to! PCAPS sent this to Microchip Hunters who also found nothing. Days later, before 'closing out the case,' Microchip Hunters took another look, and the chip was registered to another chip company two days after the cat was turned in! I called the owner and she was in disbelief. Being a teacher in Kentucky, she was fortunate to have the day off today for Election Day, and is making the 6 hour trip to pick JUDY up. They love this cat to pieces and she has an upper respiratory infection so it is great that she will be going home to be cared for personally! It is never too late to register, thankfully Judy's family thought about the microchip! Thank you PCAPS for submitting this to Microchip Hunters, Judy didn't need a new home! Safe travels to Judy and her family today! Get well quickly! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Mario disappeared from his home two weeks ago and was picked up by a good Samaritan last week. His finder contacted Microchip Hunters with the chip information in the hopes that we could find his family! The good Samaritan learned about Microchip Hunters through PetFBI!
It was found that Mario's dad passed away in 2019 and his chip was never updated by his new owner. Microchip Hunters volunteer Catherine took this case and was able to contact a family member who told her that Mario had gone to live with the sister of the chipped owner. Catherine found his new owner's phone number and reached out to her and learned that she had been missing Mario and was over the moon that he had been found! Mario's owner was able to get in contact with his finder and immediately drove over and picked him up, and he is now safely at home once again. This is a great reminder to make sure that you update your pet's microchip as soon as you bring them home, especially if you got them from a friend or family member who is deceased! Luckily in this case we were able to reach a family member of Mario's original owner but imagine if we hadn't! He may have never gone back to the people who love him. Welcome home Mario! Chloe went missing close to 4 years ago, and her family got a call today that she was found and is coming home! They had her microchipped in 2011. Chloe's microchip was never registered and Chicago Animal Control requested information from the implant facility, Paws Chicgo. In the meantime, they sent it to Microchip Hunters who heard back from Paws Chicago with the owner information the next morning. The owner only spoke Spanish, but put her young daughter on the phone. She understood I was asking about a Chihuahua. The daughter explained that they were missing Chloe and that she went missing 3 years ago. They waited a couple hours for Chicago Animal Control to open, and went to reclaim her immediately! They went to get her a bed and food, and she is home resting comfortably! "Si pero después de 4años sin verla le daremos todo el amor que ella se merece fue mucho tiempo de estar sin ella: "Yes, but after 4 years without seeing her, we will give her all the love she deserves. It was a long time without her." Imagine if she wasn't microchipped. She would have not made it home. Once again, the importance of the microchip - we don't know when our dogs might go missing. Thank you Chicago Animal Care and Control for submitting and PAWS Chicago for your wonderful record keeping! We will help make sure to get Chloe's microchip registered. Welcome home, you are loved Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com
Kisses was found in Chicago and taken to VEG, who then took her to Chicago Animal Care and Control on October 4. Kisses did have a microchip, but the phone number was no longer valid, so they sent her info to the Microchip Hunters for help. Luckily, Kisses’ owner was pretty easy to locate online through his business page, and he responded to Jessica S very quickly. He said that he had believed Kisses and her brother Hugs were safely in the custody of his ex but has since come to believe they were released sometime in the last year. Kisses’ owner was very excited at the opportunity to be reunited with his cat and picked her up from CACC on October 9! LLost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com 10-year-old Biscuit was found by a good Samaritan and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control on October 3. Biscuit did have a microchip, but the phone number was disconnected.
Microchip Hunter Jessica S did some digging and was able to find the number for the owner’s daughter. The daughter answered her phone on her way to work and immediately pulled over when she realized her mother’s missing dog had been found! She said her mother had been distraught and crying since Biscuit had gone missing. Mother and daughter were able to bring Biscuit home on October 6. Jessica S said this one was a little extra special because her own mother had previously had a cat named Biscuit. Lost Dogs Illinois www.microchiphelp.com Microchip Hunters This little dog was abandoned outside of Chicago Animal Care and Control, and people were told by this person that left the dog that she barks too much. 'They didn't want to wait to officially surrender.
Thank you to Chicago Animal Care and Control for submitting this case to Microchip Hunters when the phone number for the chip was not correct. The owner on this microchip called Microchip Hunters immediately when they received an email that her dog was found. Stormy went missing exactly a year ago. It turns out that 3 of the numbers entered on Stormy's registration were transposed, but her email was correct. Stormy went home after her spay, thanks to her microchip! No assumptions here! We know there are many circumstances that bring animals to animal control, and they are not always what they appear. We have no idea how Stormy ended up with a new family that brought her in to surrender, but we do know that her family was really happy to get this email! Welcome home Stormy, glad you are back with your family. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Isabella was found by a good Samaritan and taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control on Sep 26, 2024. Isabella was microchipped but when CACC tried to call her owner they discovered the number was no longer working so they submitted the information to the Microchip Hunters.
Microchip Hunter Jessica was able to find an email address for Isabella’s owner. Soon after receiving the email her owner had emailed and texted Jessica back to confirm she was Isabella’s owner, and she was looking for her! Isabella was picked up from CACC and is back home. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Bordi's microchip was registered to his family that rehomed him years ago, and their phone number had changed. Chicago Animal Care and Control had him at their facility and reached out to Microchip Hunters.
Microchip Hunters was able to reach the family by finding a working number, and they provided the name and number for the family they gave Bordi to. They went and picked him up today, after speaking to them last night. We are happy he didn't have to stay at animal control longer than necessary...make sure chips are registered and transferred to you! Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com Could that dog you took in belong to someone that is missing them?
Once again, we can't emphasize the importance of registering your pet's microchip, keeping it up to date, AND the importance of scanning a found dog or dog you are taking in to see if they are chipped. It could mean the difference of having a pet for years, only to be returned to an original owner if the dog gets out. Princesa was picked up and taken to the Chicago Police Department and transferred to Chicago Animal Care and Control. She is microchipped but there wasn't a registration or implant facility to be found, until it was sent to Microchip Hunters who found the vet the dog was chipped with and was provided the owner information from 2019. I called the family, and they spoke mostly Spanish but understood their dog was found! Princesa went missing 4/5 years ago, and the family couldn't believe it! She was a puppy when she went missing out of their yard. They called her their baby and wanted to know how to get her - they wanted to go right away. They have since gotten another German Shepherd. The son called to confirm everything since he speaks English. We are not sure if whoever she was with for all these years is looking for her, but had they registered the microchip, she could be back home with them. Sadly, this happens too often and is such a simple fix. If you get a new dog or cat, make sure to get them scanned for a chip. If chipped check if it is registered by going to the petmicrochip lookup tool and entering the chiip number, or ask your vet for help. The dog or cat you are taking in may have an owner missing them! Welcome home Princesa, you are loved and were missed! Your family said they were looking for you for a long time. We heard she is going to the vet tomorrow to get checked out, and that she is adjusting to her home with the other dog too. Lost Dogs Illinois Microchip Hunters www.microchiphelp.com |
